Thanks for those quotations, Jim. 'Live Free or Die' is actually New Hampshire's motto, though. (For you folks in Oz and elsewhere, New Hampshire is the state just to the east of Vermont.) Vermont's motto is 'Freedom and Unity.' For more information, see More...

Hmmm, Mardi Gras shenanigans ... and here I've just sent my tassles to the dry cleaners. I'll have to improvise.

Good Tuesday Maen, all!

Linda: Thank you for the Singapore Noodles recipe--it looks great!

Cathy/S Ontario: Beautiful cat!

Keith: Will bring chair to enjoy the parade(s)...

Cathy, surely you have curtain tie backs somewhere around the house....

Off the current subject, but Nancy finally did it. She has become the ultimated posting communicator. She has said more and more with less and less words until she has said everything with nothing...or something like that.

Cathy, my wife suggested trying tea bags.

A woman of few words.

Boy howdy, lots happened while I was at the fruit market. Found some lovely strawberries for my stuffed strawerries dessert, and seedless watermelone for only $3.00 apiece!

Cathy, I think Kathy is right, find some curtain tie backs from the 70's, they should work

Bring your melons to the parade, Linda ...

And Jim, you can put tape over NH's motto if you want.

Reading the comments of yesterday where the East-West discussions were going on, A smile comes to me when I see all jumping on the California invitation from Keith...Sounds nice, and Keith is modest about it....However, The CRADLE of Liberty...The city of brotherly and sisterly love....Where the More...

Whitney Houston: Star Spanngled Banner.... For all those people on site who live in the small country to the south of Canada, Happy Independence Day in advance, as it appears you are starting your celebrations tonight.
04/Jul/07 4:40 AM
Small country indeed! I don't recall you having Linda's melons or Cathy's improvised tassles as part of the Canada Day festivities
We may be small, but we know how to celebrate!

My favorite flag - Don't Tread on Me!

Kathy - I promised C Greg I wouldn't tell

For all my friends in the US, a comment that Jeb from Kanasas left on my page says it all (slightly re-worded).... ''We Canuks and Yanks have our differences, but we're all in this together, so let's just keep our sticks on the ice.'' Cheers, and enjoy your special day!
04/Jul/07 4:56 AM
I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

I haven't posted for a while, but tonight I just wanted to say to our American Sudokuists - happy Independence Day for tomorrow. Eat, drink and celebrate! Hope your weather is sunny & clear for the fireworks. Here in Johannesburg, way south of the equator, we're in the middle of winter and really feeling the cold. We even had a good covering of snow last week.

Is this where the game of canasta originated? Or was that in Canananada?

P.S. Thanks for the good wishes.

I was just reading up on 'freedom quotes' and came across this: 'Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner'. Amen to that!
04/Jul/07 5:02 AM
Sarah Beth, I didn't get a chance to answer you yesterday. I'm on the Neosho River. Your inlaws could have floated by for sure. Coffeyville's a mess. The had a crude oil line from the refinery leak and have a thousand barrells of crude to clean up along with the water. At least all we have is water and huge skeeters.

New youtube today, Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless The USA'.

Nancy, some of the artwork in the video reminds me of yours!
04/Jul/07 5:19 AM
CG, thanks for the Whitney Houston rendition of The Star Spangled Banner on your YouTube. Gave me goose bumps

Thanks, Linda. They are truly heroes. I've seen the Christmas wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. It's magnificent.

Canuk Greg - and everyone else:

In 1973 there was a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

Aileen, thanks!
As to the parade at Keith's, I shouldn't be too hard to spot, wearing tea bags and curtain tie-backs and sitting in the weiner and melon section. Never let it be said that I don't know how to accessorize.

It's an absolutely beautiful day in Michigan. I couldn't wait for the holiday tomorrow and I left work early today.

Miss Kathy from Maryland, I'll have you know, my recliner is not huge, it is very compact as recliners go! You have not been noticing, I have kept my recliner parked in the SA room lately, because even compact, petite recliners are a bit of a chore to lug around sudokuland, this place is getting so More...

Okay, everyone! MizT's coming. Make way!
Keith, the porch addition will absolutely be needed. You'll know she's arrived when the moving van shows up with her 'petite' chair.
