The cold front that came through yesterday broke the horrible heat and humidity. Real temps were in the high 80s but it felt like the high 90s.

question for the day: is the Mel Gibson debacle worth all the media attention? Or are there other things we should be paying attention to?

MIL is going home today, after lunch. Hubby is so mean-- we went by this am and since we have carried in 90+% of meals except breakfast for her, he asked her what she wanted for her final meal. No special requests, so guess she gets pot luck!
We live about 1 mile from her, so this should be More...

Hazel - think you just missed!? What are they calling for in Silsbee? We are supposed to have 99 with heat index of about 109 - but we still haven't hit 100 yet this year.

Hi gang. I finally got an avatar and I can get smilies, but no other emoticons. This is a test to see if my avatar, which I call "breaking out" works here.

Jamie, it was only 96-97 here yesterday, but heat index of 105 or so. The prediction is about the same for the next 5 days or so. We don't often have temps over 100, but the humidity is horrific here, so we have higher heat indexes. It also doesn't cool down at night like I remember it doing in San Antonio growing up.

Great avatar, DotCom! You can only use your own smilies if you are a Supporting Member.

Yes, Jamie. That's why I had to read it over and over, and over....

The answer also came with this little hands on experiment: Put a piece of tape on a mirror, about eye level. More...

Kathy - I assume you don't speak from experience about cutting your face while shaving?!
Hazel - I know very well about the humidity - we aren't as bad as Houston, but it is bad here, as evidenced by the heat index about 8 - 10 degrees above the actual temp.

everyone, all this talk about heat and heat index, I can really do with out both. High of 97º yesterday until the rain came through, cooled to 86º then of course the humidity ctarts getting worse. It will be a stay in the house day if I can help it.
