Hello one and all, and welcome to my little haven. The kids are growing rapidly and will keep you entertained while I brew some coffee and serve up some banana bread or cheesecake - whichever you prefer.Laughing

Thanks for the visit, Jenny! Yes, we tend to visit new member's pages and leave "virtual" welcome gifts and food. BUT the recipe for my Cream of Crab Soup is on the recipe page, along with lots of other recipes. Go to the top of this page, click on 'Forum', scroll down to 'Off Topic'. At the bottom of 'Off Topic' is 'View All Off Topic Threads' Click it and you will find 'Recipes'. I think the soup is on the last page. If you have a favorite recipe(s), please add it. I have used several and they have been wonderful!

Hi Junebug-Jenny. I missed your arrival on site and would like to wish you a belated to our wonderful world of sudokumania....
Australians have a great habit of shorting things and attaching nicknames and you are already in my mind as 'jbj' - jaybjay...Junebug is an interesting prefix.....origin?
Good to see you posting today...read that coons can remove rubbish tin lids and open doors!! Sounds like a recipe for disaster!
Hope you can find the time to post often [maybe not likely looking at the ages of your children] so we can get to know you and vice versa.
Ciao for now.

Hi Jenny.
Thanks for posting the beetle photos.
The 10 stripe one is extraordinary!! We have similar beetles to the plain brown number but their name has slipped my mind at the moment.
Ciao for now.

Hi Jenn - Thank you, so much, for the beautiful Daffodils. What a nice touch of Spring! I know you received more snow than we did. We lucked out! We have about 3 1/2 to 4 inches here. Not too bad for March!

Hi and thanks for visiting. The bird is a blue fairy wren from South Western Australia. They are not common. Only the adult alpha male will turn this colour, the rest are just a mousey brown with a hint of blue in their tails. There are several varieties of fairy wren accross South East Australia too. I think ours are more striking. They like fairly dense schrub so that they can quickly hide from predators, eagles, kookaburras and the like. We live on the edge of a jarrah (type of tree) forest. They eat insects mostly. They visit our garden often. Best wishes to you and yours.

I think it is the group called Off Topic.

We had a Robin come in January. We thought he was going to freeze to death! I wanted to hang a lightbulb for him, but my husband said he would be okay. (I think the bird was lost!) I am not sure what a cackle is. Does it have another name?

Have a good day, Jenn!

Hi Jenn! - We have a bird book called "Birds of North America." It is pretty good. I found the Grackle in it and yes we have seen them too! You must come out to our house this summer. I know you will enjoy bird watching here. We have a lot of wet-lands around us which draws some of the birds to this area. If you go to my Flickr site, you will see the Sandpiper Crane. We watched the "baby" grow up last year and we see the Cranes have returned already this year. When my hummers return, it is amazing. In the middle of the summer I keep 3 - 2/cup feeders going and I fill them about every other day! I went through more than 25 pounds of sugar last year! We have bats in the evenings in the summer. We encourage them because they help eat the mosquitoes! My husband hung a bat-house on the chimney last year.

Thanks for stopping by, Jenn. Talk to you soon.
