Ganesh pooja or Vinayaka chathurthi is celebrated on the fourth day of newmoon in the month of sept. It is also a social function, and big idols are installed at important junctions and after nine days of celebration will be immersed in the sea. This idol is in my neighborhood, and its made up of fruits, there was also idols made of coconut, cereals and flowers etal.
