Bringing you by some caffine to help keep you awake until the race, Susan! ...or if you prefer, sugar! I want to race today, but have to be meet a friend for a hike at 7:30 (before the heat hits) - we walkies her doggies around a big park with massive hills. The dogs seem to do better than we do! So if there are enough posts 15 minutes into the new day on Easy, I'll still be here to race ya

Susan from Qld, in answer to the question you asked about the tie dye T. I would use cold water hand wash definitely, but you could do as my mother would have done - let said daughter wash it herself then she can only shout at herself. Do tell her though cold water. If salt was used in the original process it should be OK

Hey Susan! I sure enjoyed cruising all over your burg today...beautiful cane fields and love the mountains off in the distance. It looks like a nice little town. But after all that traveling I'm bushed! So I need to rest up for our rematch tomorrow! Hugs!

Hi Susan, nice to see you on my page, even if you think I'm off cheating and stealing!!!!! Huh!

Actually things have been a little crazy here. Most days I get to do the puzzles, read a few of the easy posts, the SA5 posts, post a bit then run off and do something else...

Like right now... got to get ready to go out for dinner with the family. I'm really looking forward to it!!!

Hi Susan, I’ve been trying to study for a promotional exam, but am a bit frustrated because I don’t feel like I’m getting enough study time in. The test is in ten days so it’s cram time! I was considering not taking it at all but feel a little better as I did well on the practice questions today.

I hope all is well with you and the rest of the family. Talk to you again soon.

Hi Susan, thanks for missing me. Yes, it's still chaotic around here. The move was fine but our storeman handed in his resignation before we moved and left us on 21st August just when we were getting settled. Our new storeman started today (I just hate teaching new staff how things work) and we have the newsagents trade show on this weekend (busy, busy, busy) followed by the boss going on holidays next week. Typical!! Fortunately he is only gone for the week. Then we have one week all together and then I'm having a week off. I think it will be my first time away from work since at least the beginning of July - the money is good but the lifestyle lacks a lot and we won't even talk about the state of my house!
We are heading south to my sisters in Nelson's bay. The boys are coming as well for the long distance driving experience, plus they have never been there or along the NSW coast either.
Kevin is coming with us but flying home on the Wednesday to go back to work on Thursday PM. I'm really looking forward to the break and it will be nice to see Katrina and Mark. K was visiting us in July but I haven't seen M since Christmas.
Please send my hello's to R and the kids.

Hi Susan! You will be getting up soon, so I need to reply to your post on my page. I really do appreciate your concern about our new shower. It's interesting that you have concerns about the dropped floor because we chose to have it that way instead of the way we previously had it which required stepping OVER a ledge. After my Dad had a stroke he had a great deal of trouble lifting his foot UP. It was easier for him to step down. So we figured that if during the next 22 years we live here (hopefully!), one of us should happen to become handicapped in the same way my Dad was we also might find it easier to take a small step down rather than trying to get over a ledge, especially if transferring from a wheelchair or walker. We also decided to put a built-in seat in one corner of the shower & to use a floor surface made up of artificial stones rather than tiles. We feel that will offer safer footing & a better place to sit than using one of the portable aluminum shower seats that my dad had to use. Could you tell me why you felt the step down shower at the hospital was difficult for your mom to use? Maybe I'm just not quite sure what the problem was. Thanks for your input.

Susan, your advice about the shower came at the perfect time. I read your latest post this morning & within the hour the contractor arrived to start the day's work. We were able to talk to him about the depth of the floor & specified that we wanted it to be no more than 2 inches deep. I hope that will be manageable with any future mobility issues we may face. They poured the concrete for the new floor this afternoon!!

At this rate we are going to end up with CP's
about bathrooms - ha ha! Don't worry about our changing the bathroom on your account. We didn't really change anything - you just gave us a timely heads up to make sure we talked to the contractor about the depth. I think he would have asked us about it before he poured the slab, but you never know! He did say some people have told him they want it very deep, & he has advised against it. We also had to make quick decisions on the placement of the recessed lights in the ceiling & the electrical switches while the electricians were here yesterday! I'm going to have a MUCH better lit bathroom when we're done. Before we had fluorescent tube lights in a big ugly wooden box over the sinks & two other small ceiling fixtures over the tub & toilet. Now we will have two pretty vanity lights over the mirrors (framed ones instead of the huge flat across the wall kind), five recessed ceiling lights, & three small bullet lights which will shine over our pretty stained glass overlay windows around the whirlpool tub. It will be set up so we can turn on just some of the lights for atmosphere if we're just relaxing in the tub. I'll have to post some of our before pictures so you can see what we started with. I had a VERY hard time picking cabinets & color scheme for the tile, granite, etc. It all had to coordinate with the windows since I was NOT going to change those! I didn't want to pay for an interior designer to help me, but we took a picture of the windows to the lady at the tile place, & she steered me toward choosing colors in the "cool" group. I wanted kind of a Victorian look since stained glass windows were big then. We'll have dark cherry cabinets, Delta Victorian bronze faucets & shower & tub fixtures, & white tub, toilet & sinks. They tell me white is coming back in style now. Oh well, I'm giving way too many details here - don't mean to bore you. Sorry I'm so obsessed with this bathroom lately! Again, thanks for your advice.

Hi Susan hows it going? Are you back from your urban adventure yet, how was it? I am happy to report that the I took the exam on the 20th so that is one less thing on my plate. Now I just have to wait for six weeks or so for the test results and then we'll see what happens from there.

Didn't show you because it was 'really really really boggy' when you were here, with dinosaurs roaming in swamp!
The boys ( including the big one ) nicknamed it the 'Bog Swamp' many many many years ago !!
When Cynthia was here, 'major dredging' had happened.
Still needs a bit more dredging. Will move the office into there Temporarily, as the office will become sleeping quarters when Rena is here.

Hi, Susan - Thanks for your note on my page. Sadly, my brother has elected to forego treatment of his cancer, so there is little I can do besides offer comfort to his wife and three daughters. Life can be so unfair at times.

Hi Susan - you were the only one who picked up on my faux pas about hubby being home and not coming up for air - thank goodness no-one else spotted it. As soon as I hit the submit button I realised how it sounded and as my daughter would say 'Ewww Mum - too much information!' and not even true!
Rolanda's closed door, the former bog swamp, was fine when I saw it after the major dredging. I think it was all moved across country to my place. I have many doors closed to visitors!

I saw that you popped into SA today, and popped out again just as quickly! Unlike most days I stayed online all day today and popped in and out when I felt like taking a break from STUFF. Hope to do something similar tomorrow....

Maybe I'll see you around..

Hi Susan,

I don't think the site is dying, it's always had busy times and slow times. I go where I feel comfortable, send birthday wishes and welcome newbies if my connection is fast enough.

If you go back through the archives there have always been people who complain about the way things are compared to the 'good old days' - which weren't always so great by the way - going back to almost the very beginning. The nastiness comes and goes. Blaming extra pages like SA is crazy, because before SA it was the chatroom. And when we didn't have those things people complained because there were too many easy pages and they took too long to load! You can't please all of the people all of the time, and some you can't please any of the time!

Position Description for SA: Must be willing to interpret typos, say what you think before you think again, learn a new language, use either avatars or smilies to communicate, try to get on the TOPPs list and once you're on it not to be on the bottom, care about people you have never met, and do everything you can to meet them when the opportunity arises.... oh, and you must have a thick skin and a sense of fun.

I left out an important one!!

Must accept the nagging of others gracefully and nag them back when appropriate.

Hi Susan
I think the ship is 18 years old and the boiler 12.That is a total of 30. When the ship was the boiler' s current age, that is 12, it would have been 6 years ago and the boiler would have been 6 years old. Then the ship would then have been twice the age of the boiler. I won't go thru the quadratic equations I used to solve it. Sorry I took a while to get back but sometimes you actually have to do some work.
Cheers

Sorry Susan
Obviously I interpreted the question incorrectly and you were right. I quite outsmarted myself and it serves me right for being smug for thinking I had got the puzzle right two days in a row. I'm not in the running today because that type of puzzle just doesn't compute with me.
Nice Sunny week so far in Tasmania for Spring. I'll be in Brisbane the weekend after next for a conference Fri/Sat then judging at a Dog Show at Durack Dog Centre on the Sunday. Hoping for a sunny but not too warm day.
Cheers Saylz

Hi Susan. Thank you for your birthday wishes. I do appreciate them greatly. I'm also glad that you like our fountain. It does give us pleasure too. Although, I'm not keen to photograph it for a magazine. It is a one off original, and someone might try and copy it. :)
