Hi Susan, thanks for your thoughts on Saturday. The day was lovely and all went smoothly (unlike the two previous days). The weather was perfect (of course), the bride was stunning (naturally) and the reception was everything we hoped it would be- good food & wine, great music and lots and lots of fun! But it all finished too quickly (sigh)

Hi Susan, Thanks for calling by my page. No time for much gardening at the moment and a few back problems means I should not dig so lots really needs to be done. Really trying to get the garden low maintainance now. If you look at my TOPPs you will see that I really do not have all that many posts. Especially lately. I am pleased so many 'newbies' are having so much fun on this site.

...and thank your for your kind thoughts regarding my Mom's surgery.

It went well, and she is recuperating at a nearby rehab hospital where she is getting occupational and physical therapy on the weekdays. They even have bingo a couple times a week and she's been able to join in!

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
'Oh excuse me please' was my reply.
He said, 'Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you.'
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
' While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes..'
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.
'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'
He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'
I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'
He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway.'
I said, 'Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.'

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Thank you Susan, very kind of you to say such nice things about Chloe. All I want for my kids is that they be happy and successful in whatever they choose to do, and she is. She used to work in the family business but decided that retail was where she wanted to be and she is making a real go of it.
Take care and best wishes to your family.

Hi Susan, that wasn't a problem. I will drink red if pushed (or there's nothing else) but really prefer white.
Kevin has decided we/he needs to drink the other two bottles before they go off. I told him to wait until his sister arrives back from China in the New Year. $100 per glass is too good to just have with spag bol!

Hey thank you so very much for the beautiful tulips and thoughts for today,
It has been a more difficult time than last year,
and on his last anniversary, I was in Darwin sitting by his grave, thanks again

Susan,
Thank you for the flowers.It was so thoughtful and I do appreciate you as well as the flowers.
I must apologize for the giggling during the skype visit in SF...I wish I had been able to speak rather than giggle, but between the very high volume of noise, my being hearing impaired, and slightly impaired from the wine, complicated by your loverly accent....I did the only thing I could under the circumstance...I do promise that if there is ever another occasion, I will make every effort to act and speak like a grown up...oh...dear...maybe I'd better not promise that...that's what I think I was trying to do then...lol

Hi Susan! Thanks for the welcome home. I'm slowly catching up on Sudoku after our long trip to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, & Cambodia. My 62nd birthday on Dec. 4 was one of my most exciting ever! It began when we watched the sun rise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia - unforgettable! But that was topped by the visit on the last day of our trip to the Tiger Temple. I have posted only one picture on my page so far, but I will try to whittle down the thousands of pictures we took to just our favorites & post them on Flickr as soon as I can find time. Meanwhile, Rob & I wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas and

Hi Susan
So many pages had gone by since you posted I thought I'd comment in here so it made more sense... Ebob is absolutely shattered by her report card, which I hope will motivate her to work harder next year - 4B's, 3C's, but more importantly, a 2 for effort in English because she didn't hand in some work (it did eventually get handed in). With Ally starting high school next year I will have a chance to work with both of them on prioritising etc. Like you I don't know what to do with the information!!!! Other than the 'future' nag....

Hi Susan

I knew is was you even though you changed your "from". Thanks for the birthday wishes even if they were a little late. I know how time geets away at this time of year. I dont post on site very often but still lurk around a fair amount. Bec had her party last night and she was pretty happy with how it went. She went "into town" and was picked up at about 3 - so we're all a bit tired today!
Is your son doing well at Uni?
I hope that you and your family have a great Christmas and healthy and prosperous 2009.

Susan, I'm going to try this thing where I sit her down after school every day and get her to show me her planner and what she has done. It feels wrong - she should be responsible for her own actions by now - but I thought if I could do it for a few weeks I could show her what I mean about planning, organisation and getting her act together - demonstration rather than just words.

The teacher thing sounds good too. For one of her electives I mentioned to her teacher (on P-T night) that I thought being partnered with her best friend was affecting her results. It's the only subject they have together... I suggested that she keep an eye on them and if Ebob's work didn't improve perhaps she should separate them. It was the one subject where a teacher mentioned an improved attitude in the second half of the year...
