Oh, Fiona, how I wish I had time to dilly-dally in Sudokuland! Several home-improvement projects have arisen that require my full-time attention. Plus, I had a mad search for my recently-expired passport in order to renew it in time for a hastily-constructed trip to Mexico to visit the Chichén Itzá pyramids with a friend. It took me several days to figure out where I'd stashed the passport; then I sent it off with the appropriate paperwork and money (including $60 to "expedite" the processing) and am now impatiently waiting to receive it so that Mary and we can proceed with our travel plans. We are hoping to go before the holidays, but Jaime's brother Alvaro is thinking about coming from Chile for a visit "sometime" in December, so that might sink my travel plans for awhile. I would not want to miss his visit since we haven't seen him in at least 20 years! In any event, I peek into Sudokuland every so often and hope to get back on a regular basis in a week or two. I just saw on Mo's page that I missed your birthday. I am so sorry!!! Please accept my belated best wishes. Hope you had a wonderful time!!!

I was almost too tired to enjoy the day after the week long stresses following Kyley's surgery, but it was a very special treat to have all my daughters & granddaughters together. Thanks for thinking of us in our snow. It is really something. Was able to get to my office today in my all wheel drive Volvo, but the streets are not in great shape. And we are expecting 10" more on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shoveling keeps me in shape I guess. Hope it has warmed up over there.

Fiona, thank you so much for celebrating my birthday with me last week, I had so much fun reading all the posts. I hope you didn't take offense that I didn't join you in a drink...5.52 am is a little early in the day for me!
The family went out to dinner that night, then the next day we had yet another party for my youngest daughter's 16th. I then had the pleasure of a lunch on Sunday with some of our Sudoku family who spoiled me wonderfully.
It doesn't get much better than that!

May your day be happy and your year very, very, happy. You asked about what to see in San Francisco that is off the tourist route. My best memory is counting the statues in Golden Gate park. McClarian hid them because he hated statues. When I was in grammar school we found 79. All in the bushes.
