Fiona, I am sorry to have been so abrupt with my reply to your question. I think I was half asleep when I sent it. My ancestors originated form around Dumfries in Southern Scotland - as far as I know. They then migrated to Birmingham and we have good records of their life there. What is difficult though, is discovering the generation who migrated from Scotland. All the important records of the family were lost in a church fire. My great grandfather migrated to Australia in 1852 so I am a fourth generation Aussie.

I think a France Group meeting would be great. It would be nice to tie it in with one of the visits to France of an overseas visitor. Haven't seen Liz on the site recently.
I would love to sit next to Jeff Bridges. The Fabulous Baker Boys is Steve's favourite film, but for Michelle Pfeiffer not JB, LOL

What have you done with that incredible photo of yourself, Fiona? Your eyes are amazing, and, when I showed your picture to my husband, he thought you were pretty hot, too!
I hope that I didn't offend you today when I joked about your ''skulking.'' A while back, I asked you why you weren't posting, and you said that you were often around but didn't always post. I was just making a joke about that ... no intention other than to make you smile! OK??

Hi Fiona - Thanks for your visit. How has your winter been going as far as weather? Do you have much snow? It is about 16 deg. F here today. I think that is about 16 below 0 C.? Stay warm and think warm thoughts. Spring is right around the corner!

Hi Fi! (Is that poetry?) Are you coping well with the weird weather that Europe and France has been getting? Hope so. Here it is up and down, mild one day and freezing cold the next. Oh well, another poem to sign off. Bye Fi!

Haven't seen you on the site for ages. Hope all is well with you. Have posted from time to time, to you, Gannie Mo and Chris, but haven't seen any reply. I am off to England in the morning. Would love to see Chris and contact you and Gannie Mo, but don't know how to email you. I really would like to keep in contact _ maybe visit later in the year?

Hi Fiona, I've only just learnt that you have been 'a bit crook' - as we say down here. I wish you a speedy recovery and that your life will return to normal soon. There is nothing worse than feeling awful when everyone around you is enjoying a holiday. Get well soon.

Fiona, the expression 'a bit crook' reflects the Aussie penchant for understatement. It is appropriate when one feels so ill that death would be a relief or when cursed with a monumental hangover.
My brother, who lived for a time in Mildura which is on the southern side of some vast cattle country, asked a fellow drinker what he did for a living. His reply was, 'Aw, I got a bit of dirt up the track.' When translated this meant that he owned a huge cattle station about 400 miles north, up the highway.
