Hi Pam. I am very late in coming to your page to you. So glad you have joined us. I love your good sense of humor! Where in CT do you live? I used to live in Groton, CT when my husband was stationed at the Navy sub base there. We enjoyed our time there - especially the beautiful fall seasons!

Warning- long winded rant involving FPA.
I will post this here so as not to inadvertently damage Karen's delicate sensibilities.
Long ago, in my newly wed years, my Husband and I had an agreement to do the dishes on alternating turns. We were both working full time and it seemed fair. I would do the dishes after one meal then it would be his turn. Invariably he didn't get around to taking his turn until we had used all the dishes and silverware in the house. He would spend the better part of a Saturday doing the dishes. I would take my turn after dinner Saturday and the pattern would continue. I learned to live with a sink full of dishes. When our daughter was born I had the luxury of giving up my job and staying home so I took on the responsibility for the dishes. When I returned to full time employment I had a dishwasher installed. All was well until the dish washer broke- someone decided we could live without it. So the turn taking resumed. On my husband's recent turn he did a sinkful of dishes and left the pots to "soak". His turn not being over, I took little notice of the dishes in the sink. This morning I made myself some breakfast only to discover that we had not a single clean fork or spoon! I routinely wash my own breakfast bowl,spoon and mug, but this morning I made eggs and needed a fork. Apparently hubby had not washed any forks or spoons but had left them soaking in the pot. He cleverly hid this fact by kindly getting out plates and forks for dinner every night. I should've had a clue that he was up to something when he ate his dinner with a toddler fork last night But I didn't want to ask. I didn't suspect a thing! Now he is out plowing snow and I will have to do the dishes because he will be exhausted when he gets home.

Thank you for being considerate of my dislike for the FPA, but never worry about sharing your stories anywhere. I feel for you, but at least you had an agreement and for the most part he kept his end of the deal, though not on a regular routine. My husbands idea of doing dishes, which once ever 10 years or more he will do them, we have been married 22 years, so that tells you how often he has done dishes, whether I work or not, his idea is to soak everything, until I get fed up with it and do them myself. I am one of those sick people who cannot leave dishes in the dishwasher over night. Have been known many times to get up in the middle of the night and do the dishes and empty the dishwasher.
Have not slept hardly at all the last two nights because of circumstances, the dishes have not been done till the next day, even my naps have been interrupted. It has been hard.

I am so happy to hear you have a toddler, we could swap stories.

Oh, I reread the statements and realized it was in was in times past. I am learning, that my mommy tales are bringing fond memories back, making some chuckle and thanking God they now have grandchildren or pushing their darlings out the door. I love this parenthood stuff and sharing it. If I could I would probably be telling tales all day long, but then I would be missing out on my girl's cuteness.

Don't listen to Sue, I still suspect her of being an ax murder. hehehe.

Haha Pam, can't work out what FPA stands for... but that particular rant would be acceptable for public viewing in my opinion.. I think you will find many who understand such a situation completely!!!
I have a dishwasher that I usually put on as I go to bed . Hubby ususally unloads it in the morning as he is first up. I am guilty of rinsing pots (that shouldn't go in the D'washer) and stacking them until there are enough to constitute a load worthy of filling the sink.

Meg FPA stands for Food Preparation Area, as Karen can't bring herself to say the "k" word.

Hi Pam, When are we going to get a few more photos ?
I am especially interrested in the ceramic creations as I have a sister who has been an amateur potter for many years, she has her own kiln at home and also is involved with a local potting group. She has thrown on the wheel, built by hand, worked with glass and other firing methods;I'm not au fait with all the technical terms.
she is also a skilled needleworkern in both wool and thread tapestries.

ok here goes for your survey...I teach English as a foreign language to 'free time' students, the majority of whom are retired, although many are also just people with spare time on their hands..young mothers...people between jobs...young students with gaps in their courses etc! I work within the local university.

Well I see that I'm not the only one who failed to notice you moving to the site....You were so quite about it...lol....But late on not I'm glad you found us and have been posting and have some great pictures too. I enjoyed the pottery like most of us did. Looking forward to more.
