Welcome to my page

This is a picture of the Naperville Riverwalk in the fall of 2008 on a early Sunday morning. I love to walk along the Dupage River early morning and even in the Winter. Just up around the bend is a bridge with rapids running underneath it - you can listen to the water - very nice.

Hi Mary, I agree with you. i usually have 2 - 3 books going, magazines to flip through, books on tape in the car and on my ipod and books to read on my phone/pda. also have sudoku on my phone. lol . i always have something to do whenever i find a few minutes to wait or traveling or in the middle of the night if i wake up. i just started the redemption series by karen kingsbury, it's been quite good, too. not the same action as iris johansen, but that's hard to compete with. lol would you recommend the ones you are reading now?

So very nice of you to drop by with your personal best wishes for my mom's health. Your thoughtfulness means so much and went along way toward giving me the calm strength to get through a long and worrisome day.

Thank you for dropping into Epping (Sydney) Mary, and pleased you appreciated the food and drink set out for you to partake. I had fun setting it all up.(the food and drink on the sideboard) It is so enjoyable 'meeting' all the lovely people who live in 'Sudoku Land'.
Looked on my Road Atlas and see you are just outside Chicago. I enjoy seeing where everybody comes from. Have been through the airport several time but have not been into Chicago.
I love and appreciate your welcoming thoughts

hi Mary, thanks for the recommendations. i'll check on them at the library. whenever we make a move, the first thing i do is get a library card. lol. you can tell what's important to me! i just finished the redemption series. it's 5 books by karen kingsbury and gary smalley. it all centers around a doctor, his wife and 5 grown kids set in bloomington, IN. which is kinda cool, since i'm an IU grad. the series was great, each book stood alone yet build on the next. quite good and a quick read. she has done several series and books. i just finished the last book by iris johansen - she writes books like CSI on tv. body of lies was probably the most action packed. i'm reading Mercy by janet dailey right now, it's set in new orleans and sounds like it will have lots of action. i finished all the nicholas sparks books when we were in NC - which was nice since they are set in the Outer Banks.

hi Mary. you mentioned true lies do you know who the author is? it was bugging me - i think i've read it and couldn't place it. i was searching amazon.com for it and think i may have it mixed up with body of lies. have you read that one? true lies was a movie with Arnold S and Jamie L. curtis. was the movie based on that book? it was a great flick. (but then, i love movies, lol)

later! muggy and steamy here today 90+ deg plus rain. i only had a few errands and can stay in the AC mostly. thankfully!

there were several of iris johansen that i haven't read yet. my library branch doesn't have them and i just haven't requested them yet. there were 1 or 2 that just didn't grab my interest, but on the whole the rest were great. i just finished mercy by janet dailey. the beginning made me wonder if i was going to get interested, but i kept going and it was excellent. it has a little smut in it. just so ya know. i highly recommend the redemption series i mentioned before. karen kingsbury has other series; but i don't think i'll read them. one series for the singles set. so for now, i'll move on. i checked out 8 books yesterday, but no 2 of the same author. i'll let you know if any of them are a must to read. lol
later, s.

Hi Mary, for visiting my page. We don't have wild rabbits any more (not here anyway)so there is nothing that eats my flowers but we have very hot, dry summers and in winter we get a few frosts, not snow though. That is why the roses are lovely around here.

Hi Mary, Thanks for dropping by and checking out my pics. We have traveled east a number of times on I80 and have visited Madison WI, and Kenosha WI so are familiar with your country. We are also familiar with the humidity and enjoy getting back to the Rockies. You must come out west sometime.

Thank you for welcoming me into the Sudoku fold, and I am so glad you enjoyed the Tastykake - I had no idea it was a regional delicacy. We must have joined around the same time (I have stalled on my page decorations) - so please accept some lilies from my garden as a welcome gift. Pray tell, what is the (umbrella) name of your book series? I was hoping to see some excerpts on your page!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit with Janice, Mary. I have to ask a really dumb question. An old college friend lives in Naperville. The chance that you would know him is 1 / Naperville + transients, but I gotta ask. His name is Mike Brown, he is into theater choriography and video production. You've either never heard of him or you live right next door.

I didn't figure you would know him but it doesn't hurt to ask. 'Oh, so you're from New York, do you know Fred Farkle?' Back in the high coutry of the Sangre De Cristo Range, I once came across a couple of fellow hikers. We got to visiting and found that one of them had been a college room mate of one of my good friends from high school. Small world indeed.

Hi Mary Thanks for the visit. I am leaving some crappie fillets for your enjoyment. I love them breaded and fried. My favorite breading is a mixture of Itailian bread crumbs and parmesian cheese.
We haven't had any cicada this year. I love their sound but they can be irratating at night. I'm sure your weather has been jumping around like ours. It will be 90 today.

Mary, I hope you read my post to you on easy. I put a special youtube song up for you in honor of your blue moon celebration. I'll leave it there for a couple of day. I have no idea where the moon is now, we've been overcast for over a week and it's rained pretty steady for the last 3 days, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

The rainbow halo around the moon is a wondrous thing to see. I remember the first time I saw it, my dad called it a 'moon dog'. It is caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Wouldn't it be cool if there was one tonight?

Hi, I saw you live in Naperville; my son was born at Edward Hospital when I lived in Lisle. Did you eat Mexican food at Pepe's on Maple? And I wondered if the Thai food place was still in downtown Naperville right where Maple/Chicago meets Washington, near the Oberweis store and the college?

Hi, thanks for dropping by, just what I needed on a cold and windy night to cheer me up! The only problem with containers is that during the summer they dry out so quickly and in the winter they blow over. Have fun.

Hi Mary thanks for telling me the Thai place is still downtown. The white guy who ran the place (his wife is Thai) speaks Thai wit dat strong Chee-kaaaaaago accent, it cracked me up to hear him talk to his staff. Have some ribs for me at Ribfest! I recall going one 4th of July (1994 I think) and it was 55F, drizzling, strong wind.... what we call 'winter' in South Florida! I also saw Three Dog Nite play at Ribfest, did they do it just for FREE ribs?!?!? LOL

Mary, so true what you said about your sons. Mine are 6 1/2 and 10 1/2. The older one is starting to hit the teenage years when he doesn't want to be seen with mom or dad. He wants to stay home alone. He is into his video games and ipods. All the things I am not ready for yet. Luckily he has not discovered girls, yet. My mom laughs when I complain about him. She reminds me that she went through it with me and my brother and eventually you come out OK.
