Hi, Mary -- NOW I understand about "the Board"! Fun way to "waste" time, though it's likely good for a mental challenge! Spent part of the day at a Dog Agility Trial, which was great fun -- watching both the good dogs ... and the not-so-good dogs as the jump, weave, charge up the A-frame, through the tunnels, etc. Lovely day with sun today, unlike the last 2 days! -Cyn

Since you are a praying person, too, could you add a prayer for a friend who has been my watercolor painting partner for almost 15 years? She had a heart attack last night. She's only in her fifties. (She's a police dispatcher and also a nurse.)

Mary, you and your mother will be in my thoughts over the next couple of days. It's never a dull moment with our parents, is it? My mother has been having a rough time of it lately with her heart as well. Every day with them in our lives is a good day.

Thanks also for your prayers for my friend. She had a stint put in because due to 90% blockage in one artery and 60% in another. She actually came to our watercolor class this evening! Said she's amazed at how much better she feels... figured her heart was causing problems for quite awhile.

My son and I passed thru Naperville on Saturday.

We were en route to Midway Airport for our flight back to Florida after spending the Thanksgiving Holiday on the farm. I spent it mostly helping my 83-year-old father-in-law get in his corn harvest.

We drove in I-88 and got off at Naperville Road - with its new off ramp - then headed straight to my old neighborhood in Lisle to look at our old house. I thought of you for a moment as I sat at the traffic signal at Naperville Road and Chicago/Maple Ave.

I noted that the empty field next to Benedictine U was still not developed after rejecting the Myer store 7 years ago, and how bright the lights on the BU stadium were. Some things have changed since I left, but only a few. But that stuff adds up over time. I-355/I-55 interchange was complete finally after lordy knows how long working on it, and my drive to and flight out of Midway on Southwest was fine.


NO snow here, where 65F feels chilly today. As we walked up the jetway Saturday night and felt the humid warm Florida air hit us, someone in the back says "Hey! I'm not freezing my butt off!" and everyone in the tube laughed. I think all the folks on that flight were, like my son and I, Florida residents returning home from the cold.


I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and great upcoming Christmas season.

Hello Mary, thank you so much for your birthday greetings, I feel very lucky to have received messages from so many parts of the world.
In 1974/75 I lived in Rochester Minnesota and well know the weather in your part of the world. Coming from Australia though, I just loved winter there!

Just read your post about the cat fiction for kids. Have you read the Redwall series by Brian Jacques? My kids (and grown kids) love to read them as they come out -- and I've been known to enjoy an afternoon with one now and again, too!

I am so glad you took much needed time to yourself yesterday. I, too, have a hard time with allowing myself "down time" - but I'm finding that I need it more and more these days.

Hi Mary! I'm slowly catching up on Sudoku after our long trip through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, & Cambodia. Thank you for your birthday greeting on Dec. 4. I had a wonderful day which began when we watched the sun rise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia - unforgettable! I hope your sister had a special day, too. There are several others from the site with Dec. 4 birthdays, too! I have posted only one picture of our trip on my page so far, but I will try to whittle down the thousands of pictures we took to just our favorites & post them on Flickr as soon as I can find time.
