Welcome to my page

This is a picture of the Naperville Riverwalk in the fall of 2008 on a early Sunday morning. I love to walk along the Dupage River early morning and even in the Winter. Just up around the bend is a bridge with rapids running underneath it - you can listen to the water - very nice.

Thanks for the good wishes. Hope your holiday has been good. Ours was very pleasant, with a four day visit with our daughters, their hubbies (one future), and our grandson. Christmas is on the close horizon, and it feels like it this morning (27F at 8:00 AM).

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes. I hope you and your family enjoyed it also and didn't suffer from turkey overload.

Is it a question of decision making or discovery of a better deal that sent you back to return your black Friday purchases?

Enjoy the season,

Joe

for stoping by with Turkey Day wishes - it was indeed great day. The pilgrims spent 3 days on that first Thanksgiving celebrating.

Hi Mary, sorry for responding so late but things really got hectic for last couple of months. Got so involved in settling my younger daughter that I was in virtual spin and picture was quite hazy. It seems to be getting clearer now and hopefully she will be settled soon.
will keep in touch from now onwards. bye and take care.

Enjoyed Mr Bean, not even contemplating Christmas yet, too early for me! Lamingtons are when a square cake it cut into smaller squares covered in chocolate icing & rolled in coconut.

Thank you for your kind Christmas greetings. I'm currently doing my best to not think about Christmas - 2 and a bit more weeks of school, reports, fragile children (students), cleaning my classroom, etc, all mean I am in denial. But it is nevertheless relentlessly moving towards the day. May you also have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, filled with precious moments.

Hi Mymare, thanks for the welcome note you left on my page, it is still empty. Connections at my area is pretty slow and it can get very frustrating downloading pictures etc. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

Mary, my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family at this very difficult time. There are so many of us who have dealt with similar situations & can sympathize. It is understandable that your father is tired at the age of 89, especially if he has had medical problems for a long while. I was grief stricken when my mother died three weeks after a heart attack, but comforted when I found in her apt. a note she had left for me & my brother telling us she was tired & ready to go be with our father. Maybe your father would be happier in heaven than he is here on earth. Tough for you, but better for him. May you all find peace

Hi Mary,
I left a comment on the easy page for you but I just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you and I understand the distress you will be going through with you father's health and having to put him in a nursing home. Hopefully you will find a nice one with caring staff. It will make you feel a little more settled at least. I've been there.
And the people on this site and so nice and supportive. Thier friendship will lift your spirits.

Some flowers to cheer you!

Hi, Mary! Please know that we are thinking of you and your family as you make the tough decision to find a safer place for your father. It will be hard (no, impossible) to find a place where he will be as happy as he would be at home, but his safety must be considered. Prayers are winging your way! Be aware of all the love and support for you here. Good luck and peace!

Mary, I have just come home from a mercy dash to Adelaide in a very similar situation to yours. My mother, who is 81, has been unable to eat solid food for a month and in the last week, has hardly eaten anything at all. Dad felt unable to cope because she was refusing any help he offered so called on my sister, a nurse of 40 years, for help and advice. She and I flew interstate on Friday to be by her side in the casualty department of the hospital. We brought her home and hopefully made her realise how important it was for her to start taking nourishment and our father was able to get his first decent sleep in ages. He now feels more able to manage her care and knows that any one of us can be there in a matter of hours if he needs us. It has left Mum very weak and frail and we can only hope that she regains some of her sparkle soon.
I feel deeply for you and your family during this difficult time. When ever I think of my Mum, I shall spare a thought for your father.
Please take of yourself and feel right in the knowledge that you are doing what needs to be done. Worry is no good for any of us, it leaves you feeling very drained.
My loving thoughts to you,
Gail

When we put my husband in the nursing home, crystal would come be after work every night and we would watch jeperody together. Visitors at the other bed would marvel at how many Ed got right. I went at lunch and stayed until 9pm, crystal came at lease once a day for an hour or so, but don't try to stayall the time. I had a heart attack while I was in the room with him. Lucky he didn't notice.
