Hi... thanks for the link. I had put a picture of a white Araucana rooster on my page last night, as well as an explanation about the switch of fish. The rooster may not make it to the Fair after all... the story is on SA5... but the Fair doesn't start until tomorrow. I did check on my 2 Bettas this morning, and added some plants to their aquariums. Then I looked at their competition again. There's only one Betta that I think has any chance against my 2, and one of the other Bettas was floating dead in the cloudy water of its tank. So I feel good about 1st and 2nd places.

Hi, MizT! I saw your post on shrimp on SA5 earlier, but since it looks like no one is there right now, thought I'd visit your page. My husband suffered from high cholesterol for years. Two heart attacks and one by-pass surgery later, he has things under control! But I thought you should know that the cholesterol in shrimp does not affect adversely the body's cholesterol level. That is basically because there is so little fat in shrimp which is necessary to "activate" the cholesterol. In any case, here is an interesting article on the subject:
http://www.foodmarketexchange.com/datacenter/industry/article/idf_shrimp_drains.htm

I hate to see someone who loves seafood do without unnecessarily!!!

Hi,MizT!

I didn't hang around SA5 'cause I had toooooo much to do today. Since I can't play tennis or ride my bike in this lousy weather, I'm using this "down" time to organize my office. What a mess!

So your hubby had bypass surgery, too, huh? Jaime had his in 1993, following heart attacks in 1989 and 1991. Although we'd always eaten fairly healthy food, I did a tremendous amount of research to find the healthiest and tastiest foods to eat. And, of course, we upped our exercise as well. I ended up with a catering business, specializing in healthy food (although most guests of my clients didn't have a clue that they were eating healthy!!!) Seafood of all kinds has been an extremely important part of our diet, so I was very happy to not have to give up shrimp!

Take care, and hopefully I'll drop in on SA5 when somebody's home! Cheers! Jane

Hi, MizT! I'm taking a few minutes to read a few pages. Mind you, I don't have a few minutes to take, but "Oh, well!"

I LOVE your comment about men/husbands - that you can't live without them and you can't shoot them. Hopefully mine will be helping with the SUPER cleaning needed so very allergic daughter can visit in a week!

Hope your bruises are healing and you're feeling better!

Hi MizT! Thanks so much for coming to my page to explain & show me Heidi's mug! It's very pretty. I have a feeling I miss out on a lot by never going to SA5, but I can barely keep up with Easy comments let alone another area. Glad to know you are far from the coast of AL, & that Gustav is slowing down a little. Stay safe & dry!

Kathy, I think we on SA5 miss a lot by your absence there, but I do understand about not having enough time. I had to give up doing all the puzzles and jigsaws every day to keep up with both boards AND there are days I do not get to EASY, but not many.

Know you are welcome to drop in any time for a fast visit or comment on SA, it is not limited to those who can attend daily.

Thank you for your warm welcome, Tricia! I'm down at the bottom of the state, 6 miles from Mobile Bay, 25 miles from the Gulf, and smack dab on Fish River. See you again in Sudokuland!

(Don't forget to tell Al how to let us know if you get stuck in hospital overnight so we don't worry!!! Though, come to think of it, we all like to worry )

MizT, you have been so upbeat and positive the whole time you have been going through this surgery. I am in awe of the attitude to life you have shown us on site. It's easy to say, 'well it's the easier op because the doc caught it early', but it's still a really difficult op and you have been so un-whiny, even when in pain!!! You are an inspiration! Mind you, if you had complained your head off, I would have been there supporting you the whole way - you've earned it!

MizT... Thanks for the good wishes. I need 'em. For the first time, I'm starting to get really concerned.
Two of the cows are being culled because they've both had a history of reproductive problems, and the Vet just verified that neither one is pregnant. Again. So they're out of here. The third cow has serious foot problems and is having a hard time walking to food, to water, to grazing and to just plain walking. She's lost weight, and will only get worse. The concern is that this particular hoof problem she has is hereditary, so we don't want to keep her in the breeding herd.
When I sell them, it will be to be slaughtered. At their ages, they will most likely go for pet food, leather, glue, dog chew toys, and what-have-you. They're too old to go for most human foods.

Hi MizT. As the master smiley creator, I was wondering if you'd mind making a Lady Sudoku one for us? I'd try myself, but know it wouldn't be as good. A classy vessel like that needs the best!

for your thoughts and prayers. I see the eye doc tomorrow and maybe find a solution to these misbehaving eyes.

How are you and hubby now? I see from the posts above that you have been facing obstacles, too. My turn to send some thoughts and prayers in your direction,

Hi, MizT!
I was just visiting around and thought I'd stop by. I absolutely love those quilts! How talented you are I was also very interested in the domes. They remind me very much of something called a yurt. I imagine they are pretty wind resistant because of the shape? People living in hurricane plagued areas should certainly be living in those rather than trailers!

Hello MizTricia1, just stopped by to visit and I have to say that your quilts are absolutely gorgeous I love them so much, ideally I would love to do something like this later on, cross stitch and crochet are my speciality although havent had much time to do them lately. A question about the dome houses are these something special or ordinary homes, take care and thanks for letting me visit, cheers Sophia

Thanks for your message MizTricia - it still amazes me, hearing from folk on the other side of the world! Yes, I quilt too - well, let me rephrase that: I start lots of quilts! I love playing with the fabric, planning the quilt, cutting the fabric - the actual sewing, not so much! As for the quilting - it scares me! It's such a big commitment - so many things can go wrong (and often do!), then the quilt is shoved in a cupboard until I can face it again, or better still, start a new quilt! Ok, I really have finished quite a few, and I love having them on my bed, but I've realised that my family don't appreciate them that much - except the flannel one my daughter loves to snuggle under on winter's nights. I guess when grandkids start coming along..... Aaaargh!! no, I'm too young!! ;) One day, when I have learned the Technology I might put some quilt pics on my page - don't hold your breath!

You asked about my area ... Nunawading is a suburb of Melbourne (that's MELL/bn - Americans say it wrong! ;) ) There used to be orchards all around here, but now it's just another suburb - though we have some nice parks, which we don't visit as much as we should now our kids are grown - too much time on the computer! Yarran Dheran is a lovely Reserve on the banks of the Mullum Mullum Creek, a nice place to walk: signs say "beware of snakes" (welcome to Australia!) but you could (possibly!) see echidnas here (I never have!)I've also never seen a kangaroo around here (sorry), but we do have lots of possums, mostly Ringtail, which are quite small, but make a noise like a herd of elephants when they run across the roof at night! Also in the Reserve is Schwerkolt Cottage, a pioneer homestead we used to visit a lot - I was planning at some stage to make a miniature version (yes, another hobby I don't have enough time for nowadays!) Close to our home is a major intersection with MacDonald's on one corner and KFC on the other, while across the road is the pizza shop, fish and chip shop and Indian take-away - so, you see, all tastes provided for! :)
This has turned into quite a saga - hope you haven't fallen asleep! (It's hard to get tongue-tied on a computer.) I should go and do some work, but right now I have three burly men sanding my new parquetry floor, so I'm keeping out of their way - we've waited so long for this that I don't want to jinx it. ;)
Well, have a great day MizTricia! :)
