A Thought For The Day:

We all think we're pretty smart until we try to turn on someone else's shower.

I can remember visiting my grandparents house when I was small. The hot and cold pipes joined a fair distance away so there was a long delay after you turned a tap before there was any change in water temperature. I went from scalding to freezing and back again in what seemed a never ending cycle.

Poor Doug........same thing still happens at my place to some extent.....so annoying..

Doug, our hot water is gravity fed and our cold mains pressure so it takes a bit of adjusting.
That cat literarily jumped out at me when I completed the puzzle.

You don't want to be in the shower when someone flushes the toilet in the other bathroom at my house. The family certainly knows this, but a few guests have gotten a rather uncomfortable surprise upon occasion.

Let's Get Logical:

Ryan and Craig were identical twins born in Seattle in 1961. Ryan was born before Craig, but according to their birth certificates, Craig was older than Ryan. How come?

Answers to my ‘’Twin’’ inbox please.

Around here you don't want anyone to run any other water source while you are showering.

Little girls New Years Eve fever is still with us. She was up a bit last night. The good news is I got to watch the first disc of the first season of 'Once Upon A Time'. The bad news is I'm exhausted.

My uncle had a farm near Fresno (northern half of California, in the Central Valley, top half Sacramento Valley and the bottom half San Joaquin Valley), it was built by him in the 1940's with outdoor plumbing (meaning outhouse and bath shed). When I visited my cousin and I would build a fire on the outside fireplace, right under the old Japanese style bath tub.

Then at a certain point we'd put out most of the fire and bank the rest. Turned on the cold water faucet so it wouldn't scald us. Wash to the side of the tub first, and then AWWWWWW, relaxed in the tub up to our necks! Best soak I ever had!

Now the farm was sold to a huge corporation and uncle is residing in an assisted living complex. But the farm was next to a hill, really it looked like a lone mountain but you could walk up it in an hour. There were ancient pot holes in the huge boulders where the Native Americans used to grind the acorns into mush.

Got lots to do before my longest bestest friend comes for lunch! We've been best friends for 52 years! Our younger sons are the same age. Mine are married and she's been my support for all the weddings. Hers are not but soon will be.

Re: Shower water temps. A WWII vintage destroyer, I served in had 3 showers and 8 wash basins for well over 100 men. Inport, after 'knock-off', when those who had 'liberty', were cleaning up, before leaving the ship, the showers were left running. The men cycled through, wet down, step out, soap More...

I have become quite committed to fighting global warming and opposed to continued carbon combustion, so my playtime is more limited. I miss you all and wish you a very Happy New Year for 2014, with a healthy and prosperous year for each of you. And let's keep trying to make that happen without quite so much C + O2 -> CO2.

This is a no shocker, but in the old house, my favorite past time, when someone was in the shower, was to flush. You know me and my small thrills.

We had a strange death yesterday. Strange to me, but I seem to recall someone talking about their mother, who, if memory serves, had a similar situation, hopefully not the same outcome.
Anyway, take care of your boo-boos. My SIL's mother, cut her leg and did not take care of it. The boo-boo became infected and put her system into shock. Now, the family is grieving the loss of their mother.

Serena, you are welcomed to my fireplace. I love the glowing warmth, but can live without the smell and mess.
MIL had a great idea and installed an electric fire in her fire place. Push a button, beautiful warm fire, push another button, no clean up or haling in wood.
