G'day mates, here's today's medical daffynition:
Seizure - Roman Emperor

...and here's today's factoid:
There are no photographs of Abe Lincoln smiling.

Ohhhh - this little fella is gorgeous. One of my favorite birds. Saw them up close and personal like this at Gail's home where she hand feeds them. She is the Bird Whisperer!

Thanks Shiela!

Question: Did Lincoln ever smile or did he feel it was not a proper place for a smile?
11/Dec/12 12:19 AM
Now the ''kookaburra'' song is going through my head.
11/Dec/12 12:20 AM
Shiela, we may never know.
11/Dec/12 12:26 AM
Better get my eyes checked - I thought that was a little rabbit.

Time to head for my classroom and wait for struggling algebra students to show up. At least two parents ASSURED me their darlings would be here.
11/Dec/12 12:49 AM
and a happy new day to all. I will have my first cataract surgery today. Tomorrow I will see another specialist about my other eye to 'see' if I can have the other eye taken care of next week. Why is it never something easy for me? Also trying to work in physical therapy for a sore achillies tendon.
11/Dec/12 12:51 AM
It will all turn out okay, I just have to take it one day at a time. Since the cataracts have to come out now I will never have to worry with them again. right? That is what the doc. said.

Looks like we will be staying home for Christmas and New Years too. No visitors are on the schedule either. Rest and relaxation.
11/Dec/12 12:56 AM
I have missed out on many Christmas activites. I didn't go the parade and haven't seen the Christmas trees at the museum (yet) and the childrens program was last evening. Missed it.

I, too, thought of Gail's right away. She could invite hers in for dinner.

My optometrist referred me to an eye surgeon recently to consider cataract surgery. The surgeon said, ''Not yet.'' No PT for a while after the surgery! Best of luck.

Why? you may ask. There is a whole lot of illness going around in our county. The schools were closed for three days because of illness. I do not want to catch something so I have stayed at home. I need to stay well so I can get these other problems fixed.
11/Dec/12 1:01 AM
I am looking forward to a Happy New Year, yes, I am. A CP and I am done. Over and out. I will check back in Tuesday evening.
11/Dec/12 1:03 AM
Well, almost a CP. You are forgiven, Keith.
11/Dec/12 1:04 AM
The Foot and Ankle guy said PT would be okay. I think I will mention it to the EYE guy. It is my ankle so I doubt there will be any problem. I should not be straining anything. I will tell them. Thanks to ya Keith.

Back in Lincoln's day, it took a loooooong time to take a photograph. The subject would frequently have to have a support behind them to keep them from moving during the minutes it took for the exposure to be made. Since it's very difficult to maintain a smile for so long (unless it's an enigmatic Mona Lisa smile), back then, nobody smiled in photographs.
11/Dec/12 2:16 AM
GmJackie. I hope both surgeries are uneventful and 100% successful!

The answer to yesterday's poozle: Thea Tom = Splitting the atom

Winners, Grass-hopper (also thought ''T for 2'' was a possibility, but was more excited to be splitting the atom), HalT, Jamie, and Greg will be ready to bake those Christmas cookies when they receive their prize More...
