When I visited Anderson Japanese garden, a Green heron came and stood by me while I was feeding the fish. Then I realized when the fish jumped up to get my feed The bird also took vantage of his position to get himself a quick lunch 🍴

Can't seem to get to 'tough' today. The 'tough' button keeps flipping me back to 'easy'...
09/Jan/17 12:33 AM
...and it's still doing it too, tom!

I've never heard of this heron, so I looked it up:
It is the most wide spread heron in the world, with big, staring ruby red eyes on a short-legged, no-tailed body that looks like it doesn’t have a neck! This bird is very easy to photograph in areas where people frequent because it will sit so still.

Have a fine day folks!

(Snagged Shosho's fave without thinking, but saved her luck for her!)

There's a colony of these near Arcata, where I went to college. Nice picture, Jim.

Good Maen. Someone got Faun a clock with a built in thermometer, so she was able to tell me this morning that her bedroom was 55F (12.8C). And her bedroom door is 9 feet away from the woodstove! It should be (and may be) the warmest bedroom in the house.
09/Jan/17 3:02 AM
Right now we are all huddled around the other woodstove in the living room.

Why is it that so many people have to turn 65 before they wake up to the fact that they don't have to live with the freezing cold?

Raining big time today! They say it's a storm that occurs only every 10 years or so. Really warm though, so snow in Sierras will be melting at lower elevations. Not good for the skiers!

I'm curious as to how uno hu managed to post a comment that has no characters? I don't think I can do it. Rather a bit of a show-off, especially when the avatar is a no ghosts pic?

Denny, are these conditions that lead to good gold panning once the streams return to normal?

Thanks, Shiela!! Here's flying your way!!!
09/Jan/17 4:10 AM
We see the great blue heron around here. They're feisty birds with whom you don't want to have an argument. I've had stalemates with them regarding right of passage!!!
09/Jan/17 4:13 AM
Good afternoon to all! You don't see that bird in these parts.... at least I never have.
09/Jan/17 4:32 AM
Well Keith, a consolation prize....
09/Jan/17 4:33 AM
Enjoy your day/night folks!
09/Jan/17 4:34 AM
Happy Sunday!
Jim: nice bird pic
Shosho: I was thinking that bird looked pretty serious, or was busy concentrating on something...

Plum, it's a 'Ghost Post'. Whatta ya expect?
09/Jan/17 4:50 AM
Warming, here, today. With rain. With the ground frozen, it's going to be treacherous. What was bare gravel yesterday, was like a skating rink this morning.

You had to have known 'uno hu' 8 or 10 years ago when he used a different screen name and shared his rapier wit, skewering many a fine challenger, on these pages. Someone whinged too loudly so he and several other equal contributors packed up and left...along with me for those 8 or 10 years.
09/Jan/17 5:05 AM
aHEM..still no tough.
09/Jan/17 5:07 AM
JEB, I can name a few others who left, for the same reason...

Today I start my next round of treatment. A combination of Chemo(tablets) and radiation. This is 5 days a week for the next 5 1/2 weeks. I do not like the list of possible side effects and hope I do not get them. I have felt so well over the Christmas/ NY period.
09/Jan/17 6:12 AM
Great photo, Jim from Jupiter.
09/Jan/17 6:13 AM
No tough today.
09/Jan/17 6:16 AM

I have finally gotten the house back to normal after the holidays. Well, as normal as it ever gets.
I did get a little surprise when I moved the bed in my computer room out to vacuum. It seems the visiting rabbit used the corner More...
09/Jan/17 6:20 AM
I hope the side effects are minimal, June. Sending a and best wishes for a very good outcome!
09/Jan/17 6:26 AM
My house is almost back to normal as well Kathy but I did not have a visiting rabbit. Some lovely warm days to wash all the sheets and towels.
09/Jan/17 6:26 AM
For reasons unknown, the rabbit's name is ''Fat Charlie''. He was a rescue and came with the name. He is certainly not fat, so who knows why. I just called him ''Chuck''. He didn't seem to mind. He had the run of the house, so, I think I'll be moving more furniture to see if he left me any other presents for Christmas.
