all. The "Wizard of Westwood", John Wooden, died last night at 99.

The greatest coach of any sport and a great teacher of life. Beloved by all who knew him.

Check it out. WOODEN More...

Good Maen friends!
Sitting at the computer while watching the Women's Final at Roland Garros...go Sam!
06/Jun/10 12:08 AM
A quality human being, Eve ... UCLA's finest ... other than you, of course!
06/Jun/10 12:09 AM
You're not geeky enough, Vici! You also need to be chatting on your land line and texting on your cell!
06/Jun/10 12:10 AM
Hey Carlos! You look like a very pleasant chap!
06/Jun/10 12:11 AM
hehehe - funny Judy - I would be if I didn't hate phones
06/Jun/10 12:12 AM
Oh, Vici! Finally, someone else who doesn't like phones. I thought I was the only one!! Hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather that we are finally having!
06/Jun/10 12:50 AM
HI all! You will be relieved to know I didn't fly off to the heavens yesterday with the kite outing! It was fun though - and very hot on the beach all day. Re the riddle - only CG found the answer, which was 'pie'. Well done to him. I noticed Judy didn't even attempt the math riddle - shame on you.

Sam Stosur just couldn't get into the match. Well done to the Italian girl.

Here's one for the weekend - answers to the 'back down to earth' inbox please!
Take the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the 's' from 'Boast' to 'Hip' creating two synonyms: More...

I'm sorry for Sam Stosur, but what a performance by Francesca Schiavone! I'm looking forward to more exciting matches from both of these great players!

Carlos is cute! Too bad he has to grow up.
06/Jun/10 1:17 AM
Just because there were numbers involved didn't make it a "math riddle," Lassie! (Similarity to a dog duly noted!)
06/Jun/10 1:17 AM
One could say the same thing about little boys, Heidi ...
06/Jun/10 1:18 AM

Eve - thanks for the info and link. He was a great man and coach.
06/Jun/10 1:25 AM
Who says that little boys EVER grow up???
06/Jun/10 1:26 AM
Personally, that's a male trait I find quite endearing ...

1:31 to you all from usually rainy Portland, Oregon, where now a strange bright yellow object in the sky is visible.

I agree Judy...most of the time. I just get sat down for a rest and someone says "I'm hungry!" I am happy that he appreciates me though. so much better.
06/Jun/10 2:30 AM
And on that note...who posted a picture of my ex?
06/Jun/10 2:31 AM
We are overrun with darling 9 week old kittens. We need to decide which ones we keep and give the rest away. We have quite the menagerie inside. My two dogs, TM's dog, Mam cat and the 6 kittens. No outside livestock this year. after yesterday, I may start with goats to help control the weeds.
06/Jun/10 2:35 AM
That would be Mama cat.
06/Jun/10 2:35 AM
And one more to CP, just for general principal.
06/Jun/10 2:36 AM
You seem to be working awfully hard, Sarah Beth. Did the Tin Man import a soulmate from Colorado ... or a farm hand?!
06/Jun/10 3:36 AM
Good AFternoon to everyone!

Awwwww. Carlos is cute. Is he a pet?
06/Jun/10 3:57 AM
The only difference between Men and Boys is the PRICE of their toys.

I also hate telephones, because of Harry's job in the Navy we had to always have one in the bedroom so he could hear it. We had way too many nights and early mornings calls, because of problems at the squadron.
06/Jun/10 4:12 AM
Then at my last job I mostly answered the phone and delt with difficult customers or even worse the exchange buyers. Now I let Harry answer the phone, I might speak to family or friend if I am in the mood.
06/Jun/10 4:15 AM
Judy, that is why I left Kansas, so many of the men [not all] think soulmate and farm hand are the same thing.
06/Jun/10 4:18 AM
LOL! Tin Man said both. I do make sure I get my fair share, and only do what I really want to.
06/Jun/10 4:21 AM
Last one then I take a nap, was up early to go to the farmers market. Then went to Sunfest for awhile. With the heat today I don't need to be out.
06/Jun/10 4:21 AM
Kathy should have picked a better time to vacation in Texas. My daughter says it's supposed to be in the high 90's to 100+ this next week. Don't melt Kathy.
06/Jun/10 4:24 AM
everyone. John Wooden excelled not just as a basketball coach, but as a man. I, too, mourn his passing.
Although I was sorry that Sam's serve & forehand were off just a little in today's French Open final, I was very happy for Francesca Schiavone. She played GREAT & deserved the win. All of Italy will be celebrating with her tonight!!!
06/Jun/10 5:53 AM
Sue, since you really don't like talking on the phone I feel privileged that you & I have had some very long chats now & then!
Judy, are you as good at texting as you are at posting comments here?
06/Jun/10 6:00 AM
Just turned in my Census stuff. Through "counting noses" unless they call me for the next phase. Can't imagine what that would entail-- or even expect to be involved, but who knows??? Like Plum, I say it was good to have the extra income, but there are a lot of other things calling me here. Census taking has been an interesting experience to say the least.
06/Jun/10 6:17 AM
It's here!
Whew, survived another Cabrillo Aquarium sleepover with 52 third graders! Although I must say this was the first time the children fell asleep after the first lights out! Maybe it was the fundraising fun run where they had to run for 20 minutes nonstop.

Hey Judy, I went to UCLA, too! Well a few years after Eve. Those were the most memorable 5 years! I was 2 two years behind Lew Alcindor. Gosh that guy was tall! We had a conversation while waiting to resell our books. My eye level was right at his belt buckle! Thank heavens, I wasn't any shorter!
06/Jun/10 7:24 AM
It's hard to imagine UCLA without Wooden! May he rest in peace.
