Good Monday Maen, all!
The Santa Ana winds have shorn lots of leaves and small limbs off trees, and we can see the Santiago Canyon fire nearby.

We are not in danger of evacuation, but some of my son's classmates that live closer to the foothills did evacuate last night.

School is in session, and we hope the firefighters will be able to contain the fire soon and safely.

Fires are within a few miles of us, and mandatory evacuation within a mile, but we aren't in the path of the flames at the current time. We are preparing our travel trailer for possible evacuation, though. Prayers and good thoughts gratefully accepted ...

We are having a glorious fall day here. The sun is shinning and the sky is bright blue. The maple trees are simply astounding - a spring green color on the bottom branches blending to autumn's golden yellow, capped with a brilliant orangie red. I love this time of year, but it makes me thing of Robert Frost, "Nature's first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold."

They say that the zip code for Malibu is "911" and it is again.

All of you in or near the fires from San Diego, Ramona, Orange County, Canyon Country, Malibu, etc, - KEEP SAFE. Water the area around your home & roof if there is a chance flames/sparks reaching you. Plan now More...

Three of our sudoku family in the path of wild fires plus all their friends and neighbors, unsettling news. I also have a friend in SD County to whom I just sent email asking about his prospects.

Sudoku.com.au News Central. I heard about it here first. What a web site!

Where is your friend, Jeb? I can probably tell you the situation in that area.

Thanks, everybody.

I hope all those in southern California stay out of harms way. I talked to a friend in the Simi Valley last night and although she is far from the flames its raining ashes at her house.

Jill, surgery was postponed until the 30th. Send whipped cream then!
