Slow today.

Hi All.

G'day mates,here's today's daffynition:
ACRE: Literally means the amount of land plowable in one day. So in my case it would be four feet by four feet.

..And here's today's factoid:
According to astraunaut Neil armstrong, the moon's surace is ''fine and powdery.''

Kate: by the way, Churchill born in 1874, Roosevelt born in 1882, so, Churchill was older

But I'm not getting excited or anything even though I bought a new case yesterday and have started putting things at the bottom so as not to forget them.

Hi Kayo,

an acre is the amount of land that can be ploughed by one Ox in one day. From what you say above, you do not have one Ox or more Oxen.
24/Sep/12 12:28 AM
Oh GannieMo, I hope your stay in Singapore will be wildly memorable one for you!
24/Sep/12 12:29 AM
Daplap - a zimmer frame is a frame, usually light weight aluminium used to help people walk when they have difficulty. It is sort of 'U' shaped and pushed or held in front of the person. They come in different guises some with small wheels on 2 of its feet.
24/Sep/12 12:30 AM
Neil, with my luck I'd get the silly ox who'd refuse to move!
24/Sep/12 12:31 AM
I tried to contact the family today but realise now that they were probably at the Grand Prix
24/Sep/12 12:31 AM
Usually you'd see an old person with that (I'd been calling a walker all this time). But yesterday I saw a young man using one with his wife solicitly hovering over him.
24/Sep/12 12:35 AM
Grand prix? In Singapore?
24/Sep/12 12:36 AM
Yes shosho and it happens at night and the moment the winning car crosses the finishing line the whole city lights up with magnificent fireworks. It is one of the highlights of the Formula 1 calendar
24/Sep/12 12:41 AM
Shosho, OK, instead of the Ox, get some of your school pupils to learn about the realities of farming.

all. Back in Charlotte for a day of relaxation after a fantastic trip to CA.
The trip was not without mishap, however. On the way into the hotel Friday PM, I took a spill and broke my left wrist. I am not a skilled one-handed typist, so for the next few weeks, my comments will be severely limited.

Hal! I hope you're not in too much pain. Just keep in touch when you can and let us know how you're doing.
24/Sep/12 1:32 AM
Hal, In my, never to be humble, opinion, a cast isn't the best souvenir.... (Glad it wasn't worse.)

1:36. Hi everyone.

Happy Sunday from Escondido!
We are using up some timeshare points and having a nice time of R&R.

The answer to yesterday's MATH poozle: Smelly - 75, Drooling - 87, Gangly - 78

Speaking of drooling, Winners, Peter, Serena, Keith, lonewoof, and Mr. Cee are invited to a motivational speech by noted therapists, Dr. Ima Jubilant and Dr. Izzy Frolicsome Their topic will be, ''Happy is, as Happy Does!''
24/Sep/12 1:53 AM
And for today......

In this poozle your task is to discover words, names and phrases relating to a season.

You are to delete a few letters in each unrelated phrase. The remaining letters will be in the right order.

For example: EACH WRIST MASHED becomes: **CH *RIST More...

Way too slow getting back this time.

Sorry to hear about your wrist, Hal. That first step is a tricky one. Take care.
24/Sep/12 2:38 AM
It's a beautiful day here. Could use more rain but this is nice too.
24/Sep/12 3:19 AM
Good afternoon everyone,
24/Sep/12 3:46 AM
Where is everyone??
24/Sep/12 3:47 AM
Sorry to hear about your wrist Hal, take it easy.
24/Sep/12 3:51 AM

GannieMo - thanks for the info on a zimmer frame. Have used one but just called it a walker. Now, what did Peter mean when he referred to Windows XP being a zimmer frame? What is XP helping?
24/Sep/12 5:04 AM
Good afternoon to all! Well, at least to all who have shown up today. Very quiet here.
24/Sep/12 5:24 AM
Hal, if you're going to a hotel to put on a show, you're supposed to 'break a leg' and not a wrist. We always knew you were limp wristed!
24/Sep/12 5:26 AM
Hi All...
Beautiful day in my neighborhood...wouldn't mind this year round.
Dunlap, perhaps Peter was saying XP is on its last legs...you think?
Hal...so sorry about your wrist...do be careful and get better soon.
Mo....safe travels and have a blast...just sorry I can't fit into that new case....hi to all during the meet.
24/Sep/12 5:26 AM
Seriously though Hal, I hope you heal quickly. Take care!
24/Sep/12 5:28 AM
Peter, belated birthday wishes to your much (I'm sure) better half. She must be quite the woman to have put up with you all these years!
24/Sep/12 5:30 AM
Peter said XP was *on* a zimmer frame, that is using a walker, because it is old and on its last legs. I hope it is old and still spry. I, for one, am giving it lots of exercise! So is Daplap.
Long may it live.
24/Sep/12 6:02 AM
Oh, Hal, I wish you good healing. I broke my ulna and radius at the wrist (Colles fracture) and basically never recovered. The ensuing problems became lifelong and disabling. If you continue to be in pain, something is very wrong so don't just bear it or take pain meds to handle it.
24/Sep/12 6:05 AM
GannieMo, how exciting. The time will go quickly.
Hal, I do hope that wrist heals soon.
I have had an interesting few days. I decided it was time to transfer some of my VHS tapes to DVD. As well as some about family celebrations, yesterday I relived my visit to the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. (1997). Not sure where I will revisit today!
24/Sep/12 6:22 AM
I do not see Karen this morning. Or is she waiting to pounce?
