Strange looking beginning.
27/May/08 12:12 AM
That's a volcano? I'm confused, how is the discolored water a start of a volcano? Was there an explosion and then a collection of water? Couldn't be recent because I see green vegetation nearby, although I do see the tree stumps left behind.

Shosho, I believe that the 'dicolored water' you see is really molten lava.

Hello Helen - glad you're back. Are you from Rome, Italy or Rome somewhere else?
to all the other first-pagers, too. Here in my part of the world it is still May 26 & my thoughts are with an old friend of ours in Sudokuland - Sweta from India (who invented the phrase More...

Good morning everyone! I hope you have a good day!

Kathy, enjoying the French Open? Will we see you there next year?

CG: I am sorting out photographs of last 20 years and some of them from weekend spent in Ottawa where my daughter and an exchange student went to see Capital of Canada. Stayed nice hotel and went to Saturday market and took in sights - lovely city.

When he says: "It's a guy thing."
He really means.... "There is no rational thought pattern connected with it, and you have no chance at all of making it logical."
27/May/08 12:48 AM
Dave, since this is the actual day, on our side of the world. To Deb too. May you both get all you wish.

I agree with shosho ... I can't figure out how that picture could represent what it says it does.
27/May/08 12:56 AM
Maen all - hope you all are having a wonderful day today!
27/May/08 1:06 AM

Molten lava, huh? I thought someone had spilled their coffee!

The craters of volcanoes often house lakes. Could this one be colored by iron seeping into it?
27/May/08 1:29 AM

All - another cool damp day in So. Oregon - lightening storms forcasted for this afternoon. Hope the ground breaking for the War Memorial at 1 PM is completed before the storm comes in.

Updated my U-tube: with a video entitled: ARLINGTON (Song by Trace Adkins)

Interesting photo - if this is the birth of a volcano - - what is the gestation period & how far along in the birth process is it?
27/May/08 1:41 AM
27/May/08 1:45 AM
Neat picture. I've seen plenty of old volcanos, and MANY eruptions, but have never seen a baby before.
Happy Birthday baby Volcano.

Late start this morning. I really slept in late. And it's about to rain so I won't have to water my veg. garden.
27/May/08 1:45 AM
Judy, Glad you waded in with some reasonable thoughts on the picture...I had agreed with Kathy/Md that it resembled spilled coffee, but lake-water colored by iron in a crater is a good thought. I have no idea why I responded since what I know about erupting/erupted mountains is a great big More...

Oh, Mamacita, you're like me. We question and try to reasonably answer ourselves. Sometimes we're right, sometimes, oh well. But in the process we learn. I feel sorry for the ones who don't question and don't quest for learning when looking at something new. Such apathy is a sorrowful state of mind! That is how we age.

Ooooh, a chance to turn the page. . .
