It is really cold here in Orlando! Almost down to freezing last night! May have to keep the doors and windows closed today!

Also a sad day today - we are placing my dad's cremains in a columbarium at the Florida National Cemetery this afternoon...
30/Dec/09 12:01 AM
You poor thing, it's 18 F here, Glenn.
30/Dec/09 12:02 AM
There will be an Army honor guard to pay last respects...
30/Dec/09 12:02 AM
Cyber hugs to you today, Glenn. Maybe it's a fitting temp for today.
30/Dec/09 12:04 AM
It's all relative...

My last winter in Minnesota after graduating from college we went 63 consecutive days with high temps below 0 degrees Fahrenheit!

I will take Florida any day at my current age...

We went to a military funeral last winter at the Ft Custer National Cemetary in Michigan for a WWII veteran. It was so moving.

Awesome parade costume idea. Glenn - thwbbbb (that's a rude noise from under several inches of snow and several more inches of long underwear).
30/Dec/09 12:07 AM
I'm beginning to think you have the right idea, Glenn! Beginning to dread the winter months, but hubby is not yet retired!
30/Dec/09 12:07 AM
But, as my earlier comment was aimed at the weather - here's my condolences for your grief, Glenn.
30/Dec/09 12:08 AM
Interesting picture today. At first I thought it was a scene from Doctor Who! Didn't the Cybermen look something like this?
30/Dec/09 12:09 AM
I remember - oh, do I remember - going tent camping one January in Florida and it was so cold at night. In the 40s. Miserable. Up into the high 70s during the day, but it really dropped at night. But, hey. I'd be a snowbird, too, if I could.

We went to a funeral for a church friend last Saturday. His wife had died in June. They would have been married 62 years on New Year's Day. His daughter said they had never been apart for either Christmas or New Years, and they are now together for them this week! Now that is true love...
30/Dec/09 12:12 AM
Lovely story, Glenn.
30/Dec/09 12:14 AM
He had an Army honor guard as well. When his son gave his eulogy we found out that he had fought in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He had been a highly decorated veteran and never talked about it, even with his family. In October he was flown up to Washington on an Honor Flight and recognized at the WWII Memorial there. It was such an honor to have known him...
30/Dec/09 12:15 AM
Well, gotta go get ready. I have some progesterone cream to deliver today and a friend on bed rest to visit. Then I'm supposed to meet an old friend today for coffee after the puppet show.
30/Dec/09 12:15 AM
He was about 6'4" and his wife was about 4'10"! They were such a cute, yet amazing couple...
30/Dec/09 12:16 AM
Many WWII vets did not talk about their service. I know my dad didn't. Neither did a WWII POW in our town until just a couple of years ago. Maybe they felt that they fought for the good way of life and when they returned they would just live that life they fought for and not dwell on the war.
30/Dec/09 12:28 AM
I thought that the Year Of The Rat was over!!??
30/Dec/09 1:03 AM

Hey, Glenn, you and me are suffering of the cold and those darn people who live the freezer tell us that's nothing! Darn when I have to break out the bathrobe to put over my workout clothes (shorts and t-shirt) in the morning, that's cold! When I have to put on a windbreaker, that's miserable!
30/Dec/09 2:26 AM

30/Dec/09 2:32 AM
