G'day mates.
Here's today's daffynition:
Abundance: 1. Big party held in a bakery; 2. A social event held in a farm building.
Here's today's factoid:
A full-grown hippo's lips are about two feet wide.

Thanks to all who sent birthday wishes! What fun it was to see a bunch of email messages from Sudoku friends, some of whom I have actually met!

Good morning everyone. We are in New York. Last night we went to a fabulous performance of Jersey Boys, walked through the famous Times Square and ate a brilliant pizza afterwards. (Enough superlatives do you think?). New York rocks! 🗽🌃

There is a big round moon in the sky. Easy to see through the light cloud cover now the eclipse is over.

Besides their huge Mick Jagger-like lips........

> Hippos usually gather in groups of about 15 — called bloats, pods or sieges.
> A hippo's hide alone can weigh half a ton.
> A recent DNA study found that hippos are closely related to dolphins and whales.
> A hippo's More...

I'm patiently waiting for Kayo to provide the factoid about whales that had us all chuckling in our college biology classes ...

The answer to yesterday's poozle:

Answer: Too many cooks spoil the broth.
The sentence has been broken down into blocks of 4, the last block has been filled with dummy letters. Each block has then been reversed.

Speaking of cooks....the appropriate crown goes to winners DotCom, Judy, Kayo, and Hal.
Bon Appétit!

I'm sure Judy is referring to the fact that Blue Whales have tongues that can weigh as much as an elephant.......

Just the female Blue Whale, Kathy.

Judy, beside the fact that a whale suffers of a horrible case of halitosis? When my family and I went sailboat racing, we had the unfortunate luck of irritating a whale, bigger than our boat. Either it or we would have to change course, otherwise a collision from which either of us would not have come out unscathed,
09/Oct/14 2:18 AM
Luck would have it that the whale decided to duck and we went merrily on our way! However the darn whale surfaced along side us (that's how I could tell it was bigger than our boat!) and blew its blowhole at us. Oh the stench!! Rotten fish multiplied many times!!!

Sacky, enjoy NYC or the Big Apple as we call it...it is by far one of my most favorite cities, if you have time go to the Toys R Us in Times Square and ride the in-store ferris wheel and you cannot go wrong eating at Carmine's, the original one is in the upper West Side, but they recently opened one close to Times Square and it will not disappoint you if you love Italian food...enjoy!

And at 2:22. Wow. What a difference a day makes.
09/Oct/14 2:36 AM
Happy Wednesday!
Enjoying the tidbits of Sacky's & Jane's travels

, y'all! A 'bloat' of hippos... somehow that seems fitting. It's also how I feel after a few days of being absolutely ravenous for no apparent reason. The growth spurts I experience have long ceased to deal with height....

Today is my son's birthday. How did I get old enough to have a 50 year old son?

We went whale watching a couple of months ago but did not get close enough to smell his breath.
