Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)
A Snowy Egret shows off the long feathery plumes which were such a fashionable item in the late 1800s that these birds were hunted to near extinction. Birders: note the yellow feet at end of black legs which are distinctive feature that the Great Egret (larger) and Cattle Egret (smaller) lack. 21 Nov 2009 wild egret at Gatorland Zoo, Orlando, FL, USA
