St. Louis from Monk's Mound

Monk's Mound, in Cahokia, Illinois, just east of St. Louis, is the largest pre-Columbian earthworks north of Mexico. It was the center of a vast city that in 1000 AD had nearly 100,000 inhabitants- larger than London, England, at the same time.
