Tricia, I put in my second vote early this morning.
Took MIL to lunch and then drove around the Northern Harbour suburbs. The Harbour was sparkling in the sunlight and it was lovely and warm in the car. I am still a bit stuffed up.
Hugs for you Theresa. I do know how hard it is.
Thinking of you and Col tomorrow Cyn. It is always hard to say 'goodbye'.AND a BIG 'thinking of you' to everyone else.

Good morning everyone, just waiting for the grandies to wake up so I can start the morning chores there.
No, Vicki, we don't have any carer's pension here. That would be nice because even bringing in a little money would be better than nothing. We are making it so far on hubby's income, but there's no money for extras, like meals outside the home or going for long drives any more. We have tightened our belt buckles and it will have to stay that way until I can find work.
Heidi, I know you will enjoy your week.
I'm just going to have another coffee while I have a chance. Hope to be back later. It's going to be a hot one today, 30C. I was really enjoying the cooler weather.

Good Maen sudoku friends. Lovely night's sleep last night, hand much beter today so I am ready to hit the ground running today. OK, maybe walking at a nice steady clip hehehe.
Did I mention that daughter has a new smart phone and can get and send e-mail? I like it! I have received more e-mails from her in a week than in previous year! Previously I would e-mail when I had not heard from her and she would phone. But I do like the daily little "touch base" kinds of e-mails, nice.
Heidi, safe trip taking hubby to airport. How long a drive? Weather map says you have clear sailing, sunny and headed to hot today, but at least no T storms this morning for your drive.
Hello to Rolanda and Gail, it is good to see you drop in.
June, thank you for your vote, I must tell daughter how many votes are coming from Oz, she will be surprised.
SUZY, I sent you e-mail with a link to wedding photos, did you get it? I hope that was the correct address hehehe, but it said OZ in it and .com.au so seemed right.
Theresa, I do admire you, all you are doing for daughter and her family. It has to be difficult doing double duty. Hugs to you and wishes you soon find just the part time job suited for you.
Nuttin going on here, and cannot remember what was on last page, perhaps I should go back and scan again.

Viv, knitting or any hand work is a conversation started I am sure. I do know that wearing my big straw hats is also. Children specially will turn to thier parents and comment. I have a Mulberry color dyed straw cowboy hat that attracts the attention of young Mexican boys, and they all say the same thing, Mommie, I want one!! Little girls all like the bright wide brimmed hats. It is fun to stop and talk to them a bit.
Vicki, I understand your frustration about speaking a service rep who does not have a good command of English language. I do know that husband has often asked for someone who speaks English and was transferred to someone in the USA. Wonder if that would work for you. They do not know what to do when he says, "Lady, I need to talk to someone who speaks and understands redneck"
Heidi, you did not get a lot of sleep last night, perhaps you can schedule a nap once you get home?
OK, back up to where I came in, hugs to all.

I got less sleep than you imagine, MizT. IH set his alarm clock for 6 am! Of course, he let it buzz for a long time before shutting it off, keeping me from sleeping any later. We didn't leave for the airport until 8:30.

Couldn't sleep. This infection has gone into the sinuses, and is driving me crazy.
I did think up a difficult-to-answer question, tho'. Days have names (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) and months have names (January, February, etc.), so why don't weeks have names?

Morning all!
It's raining here this morning. We've had a few nice days so I'm not going to complain.
I don't think Three reported the mugging to the police, though I'm finding it difficult to get a good telling of the story. Apparently he knew one of the guys and he is one those people who is related to everyone in town and they use intimidation and threats to protect their own. He's 14 by the way. Imagine what he's going to be like when he's grown!

MizT, I got your email - yay! I will go over and have a look when I've caught up here. I know what you mean about daily emails. I love to hear the little things and you miss those when you only talk occasionally.
Vicki, I'm stuck with Telstra because that's what my mother has and she can call me for free. My phone died AGAIN just after the warranty expired. I went and bought a cheapo phone not locked into any network and put my SIM card in that. It was easier than dealing with the giants.

Heidi, enjoy your time without IH.
Tricia, I am glad your daughter is now sending daily emails. It is nice to hear all the little stuff.

Gotta go fling some food at the beasties. I will try to come back later.

we had our car picnic today. to hot even in the shade to turn off car/turn off AC, so we did not tarry long. I did enjoy watching the water, and it was flowing fast today.
OOOPS, I got interrupted when hubby came in for dinner. Nice smoked chicken and steamed veg, with plum cobbler for desert, a good meal.
Catch you tomorrow, hugs to all.

Afternoon.
Just heard from Mum, who is seeing the Dr at the Aged Care Therapy Unit.
Looks like they will keep her there for a couple of nights. They are waiting to take xrays. After the fainting spell on Friday, she has been in a lot of pain (back/ shoulder) and hardly been able to move and walk.
I will be visiting her later on.. first grab some lunch.

I'm glad that they decided to keep a close watch on her, Rolanda. I'm hoping that it's just bruises.
Now I'm off to bed. Robert and I are working on fence tomorrow. This is a short section, only 26 feet, but we'll have to dig a 50 foot trench to bury an insulated hot wire.

Afternoon all!
Just dropping in because I had to check an email. Ebob "St John-ed" someone today. As she was walking out of the bathroom at school an older lady slipped and fell. Apparently it was very calming knowing that Ebob was with St John so she asked for her to stay with her until the ambulance came even though a teacher wanted her to go to class. I told Ebob that she is really misrepresenting herself as she doesn't get her first aid certificate for another couple of weeks, but it calmed the lady anyway so I guess all is good.
I'm loading the wedding photos on another page and the background music is stuttering in and out. Sometimes a slow connection can make me laugh!

Hi everyone - sorry I haven't been around for days. As you can imagine we've been busy and it has all been complicated by the fact that I developed asthma last Thursday night which has now developed into Bronchitis. Yesterday I just didn't feel like I'd make it through the night.

We farewelled Col's Mum today. It all went well and I think we did justice to what she wanted. It was a cold, wet, rainy miserable day, especially standing around the cemetary for the committal. But the family were as one - her husband, 6 children, their spouses, almost every one of her grandchildren (23/29) and even some of her great-grandies. Siblings, assorted other relatives and friends. It was nice.
Colin did a reading of Psalm 100 - he was nervous but did well and I read a letter from Jean to her children which she entrusted to me to be read at her funeral. I feel happy that I did it well without faltering or breaking down (nearly, but regained my composure).

I had started to feel a bit better this morning but the cold wet air set me off coughing and spluttering again. We came home and I had a lovely hot shower, put on warm dry snuggly clothes and am starting to feel almost human again.
Thanks for all your messages and kind thoughts during the last week - I know it's helped Col a lot to know that people care.
I owe some of you private messages, particularly you, Suzy. I haven't forgotten you, hopefully I'll get to you all tomorrow - but - public holiday here so I have Miss Emily for the day.

Three was terrified tonight. Our local gang (who knew we had one?!) mugged him on Sunday. Mohawk was with him. Three was punched in the face and apparently they were threatened with violence if they told anyone. So they didn’t call the police. Tonight these boys followed Three back to the hostel and hung around outside for ages. He not only didn’t call the police, he didn’t tell the care worker - possibly because he was too scared to leave his room. I called the police (and the care worker) and they said they’d do a drive-by move-along thing. I did mention that he was scared to report it because of possible retribution, could they possibly call out ‘some woman called us‘...
Ally and Mohawk are rehearsing for the Tournament of the Minds performance. I have been putting my two cents in as they are very unfocused - you really need to be at a point by the end of tonight where you know all of your songs. You just need to rehearse to make them better. They seem to have Walk Right By Me and Hero of War down. I can’t remember the third one, but I think Ally messes it up at one point. Halleluiah and Tribute need a tonne of work - and there is silence coming from the other room… sigh.
Woo hoo! Halleluiah is gone! It has been replaced with … another turning point and fork stuck in the road… what’s it called? That’s it - Time of Your Life.
I thought I had another week until I had to mail Ally’s application for music camp but it has to be in by tomorrow. I’ll have to post date the cheque - yikes!

A friend sent me a text tonight that she got through the interview and, pending passing the physical, she has the job at the new prison!! Yay!! I called her and did the happy dance with her. She heard Ally in the background singing Hero of War and said she could listen to that all night. Now I’m trying to get her into the first aid course Ebob is doing because she has to do it for the job. It's not what you know, it's who you know!!!

Morning friends. I slept in a bit this morning after having trouble getting to sleep. I think that wonderful nap, very late in the afternoon was part to blame, but it was the best nap I have had in ages
I had a book and games on the puter to entertain myself till the sand man came.
another hot day forecast, another hot WEEK forcast, I am so tired of the " triple digit' heat index. I am so thankful for an AC that can handle and keep us cool. Night time temps outside were still above 82 (27.77) at 11:30 PM, it just is not cooling in the evenings. This could go on another month or even 6 weeks. Wishing my life away, but I am looking forward to autumn.
Brenda, hope the rain lets up for you, so you can ready the caravan. Enjoy your musical holiday.
Nite to Viv, sleep well.
Gail, good to see you again.
June, I remember all the things a child could dawdle over when they did not want to go to ed. sometimes I think they are so afraid they will miss something in the adult world by sleeping.
Rolanda, seems you had a long day. good that son and hubby can fend for themselves for dins, but is someone making something for you? After your day with Mum, you need a pot of tea, a nice sandwich and some TLC. Hugs to you dear.
SUZY, how scary for Three to have become of interest to the gangs. I am glad you phoned the police and notified the carer at his hostel. I hope he is soon rid of those boys, but fear it might not be so easy.
Cyn, glad the hot shower and cuddly warm clothes have helped your bronchitis/asthma somewhat. Take care of yourself, dear and get all better soon. Proud of the send off you were able to give your MIL. I can imagine the reading of the letter to her children was most difficult for you.
Suzy, it is a good sign for Ebob that she was a calming influence to the injured woman. Health care is an art and a science. You can teach the science, but the art must be born to you, it is a talent that cannot be taught, only enhanced.
