How to Play Easy Sudoku 6x6

Easy 6x6 Sudoku is the next step up from Hard 4x4 Sudoku. It uses numbers 1 through 6, with each appearing once per row, column, and 2x3 block. The grid contains six 2x3 blocks total and includes pre-filled numbers as starting clues. This format bridges the gap between 4x4 and 9x9 puzzles, making it ideal for kids and beginners learning Sudoku basics.

Tips for Solving Easy Sudoku 6x6

Look for Rows, Columns, and Blocks with One Blank Cell

Rows, columns, and blocks are all units that make up the puzzle. If there is only one blank cell in a unit, there is only one possible answer for that cell. For example, E2 must be 5 because row 2 already has 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 and B5 must be 3 because row 5 already has 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Because the top right and bottom left blocks only have one blank cell, you can determine that 1 goes in both B6 and E1.

Use the Crosshatching Technique

Crosshatching involves choosing a single candidate number and then drawing horizontal and vertical lines in the rows and columns in which that number exists. This allows you to find individual cells for which that number is the only possible answer. For example, by drawing lines through the columns and rows with 4s, you’ll discover that 4 is the answer for cells D1 and F6.

Scan Rows, Columns, and Blocks Simultaneously

Looking at the bigger picture will help you eliminate possibilities and find answers. To do this, scan units simultaneously. For example, if you’re solving for C1, you can look across row 1 and down column C. You’ll notice row 1 has 1, 3, and 6 and column C has 2, 4, and 6. Since the only possible solutions are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 and 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are already in adjacent cells, that means that the only possible answer for C1 is 5. You can use the same logic to determine that C6 is 3.
