Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July. I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015. She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long. We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

Hello Kathy , i hope no 400 will be a good luck for you , i did not notice before . Yes Moussa is christian and that was the last supper , i forgot to mention that all these statues in the rooms inside the castle move by electricity , that he wired personally ,the amazing thing is that he worked everything alone ,and he was poor , thats why it took him years to finish it . Of course now we have to pay to enter and see the inside . I think Tarek has a girl friend but i don't think he is serious yet , 26 is still young for marriage . the young boys have girl friends that come home , but not steady . I hope i will live to see my grand children, i can see that they are special from my brother and sister , they both are grands .

Hi Kathy, Thanks for popping by. Eisteddfod is a Welsh term for a festival of music and dance and literature. Here, we use it to refer to competitions, usually for young people, in singing, orchestras and bands and dance.
We have finally received our photos from the last photo shoot - not the same photographer as the one who did our Christmas photos but one who specialises in newborns. I will be scanning them into my computer and uploading them to flickr over the next couple of days. We will be doing another photo shoot with the Christmas photographer in maybe 3-4 months when Veronica is a little bigger and can sit on her own.
Talk to you again soon, Rose

Hi Kathy, thought I owed you a visit. Thanks for coming to the Quilters' page.
Your You-tube moved me to tears this morning, coming from a Defence Forces family - dad Air Force, husband Air Force, brother Army, SIL Army, FIL Army (killed in Vietnam), grandfather Army (WW1) and Air Force (WW2)....... The funeral scenes were hard for me, have been to too many of those for Service friends over the years.
Repatriation of Vietnam soldiers bodies is a very current topic this week. @ men, missing for 41 years, were located by their mates a few months ago, and their bodies were repatriated this week with full military honours. It was great to see. My father-in-law is buried in Malaysia, his body was not returned home (a usual thing at that time) and Mike says he thinks his mum was told she would have to pay if they brought him home. Only about 20 or so Vietnam soldiers are buried overseas - one in Singapore, where they want to redevelop the cemetary into an apartment block. So there are moves afoot to bring him home too, and that has raised the question of bringing them all home. It has caused some discussion in our family - given the choice, where would we bury him?

Hi Kathy ... THANKS from Caitlin. Yes C.A.I.T.L.I.N. lol
there are SO many variations on the spelling of that name around....no wonder people get confused.
BUT don't be too sure that it wouldn't be MY spelling error .... I had to go back and check LOL

good to hear from you. hope ebony is fine quickly! we had a cat named Kitty Lynn when we were first married (feels like a hundred years ago) and she had UTIs regularly. think i ended up adding something like lemon juice to her water dish, but i can't remember for sure. i've slept since then. lol
i think school is out here, but not sure. i haven't had to keep track of that since we've been traveling for over a year now - i haven't substituted in that time. thinking about it again, since we'll be in LA for several months this time. i enjoy subbing in 8th grade math. weird, eh?
we've been trapping squirrels. have a live trap to entice them into, then take them several miles away to a new home. hopefully, we catch the whole family and keep them together. ready to bait today for the 4th. these squirrels are pesky and bold. they climb up the bird feeder poles and eat the feeders and feed. then they sit on the ground, looking in our sliding door and flip their tails at the dogs inside who are barking up a storm. Murphy would love to get out that door and chase them up the tree. he can climb about 4 ft up the tree before gravity gets him. think maggie, our jack, taught him that.
well, that's my new story! lol. quiet weekend planned here. it's too hot and humid to do much. i walk early before it heats up. how about you?

So you're a math person, too! Seems lots of people on the site with math connections & lots of teachers, too! Have you been to Appy's math page? I don't know what she has there; I've never checked it out. Funny you mentioned trapping squirrels! We do that, too. Rob hates them & would rather kill them, but I insist he takes them to live somewhere else. So far he's dropped off about 15 to relocate at the club where we play tennis. He doesn't wait for the whole family to go together, so hopefully they find each other eventually! Have a good weekend.

Sending my best wishes and positive thoughts for Ebony's speedy recovery. Animals are such stoic creatures, often not letting on how much they're hurting. The antibiotics should work quickly but might make your pup lethargic, dopey, or finicky about food. So be prepared. I know how much you love your pup, and he's lucky to have such a caring, compassionate owner, Kathy.

Kathy, Hope you and Rob have a wonderful time with your grandchildren. Sully and I will be enjoying all three of ours too. Family is gathering from all over for celebration of many of our birthdays. My sister and middle granddaughter have their birthday on Sunday, my neice will celebrate on Monday , my brother on Tuesday, and several more next week, and those that were several weeks ago, like mine. Great weather seems to be helping in the celebration, so with so much going on, I'll take time now to wish you early anniversary greetings. It should be nice having all of your loved ones around to help you enjoy your special day. Have fun and stay safe. We'll do the same.

hi again kathy~~~thanks for stopping by my page, always good to see you! its me with the green thumb, not bruce...although he loves to sit out on our patio and say how pretty the flowers look. he mows our small little patch of grass and thats all for the outside work for him.
boomer and lizzy are real good buddies, we have another cat who is real old, she has NO tolerance
boomer or lizzy, let alone people. she stays in our bedroom most of the time.
we do enjoy our granddaughters. we had all boys, and they gave us all girls...but are expecting our first grandson in august. they all live pretty close to us. so we see them on a very regular basis. i watch audrey and emily quite a bit during the week. but usually we have at least one here for the weekend. we are going to take sadie (the oldest) on vacation this july, when we go home to michigan for two weeks.
thanks again for stopping by.
have a blessed weekend kathy!!

Hello Kathy , please do not feel guilty , people who do not feel with animals do not feel with humans . It is very difficult to live in fear , but we had worse times duting the war which was since 1975 until 1990 , that was at the time about half my age , i mean i lived most of my life in war . I don't say that it was easy , but i feel God will not leave us suffer another time , i don't think i can survive it this time if it took much longer . I try to live normal life , tend to my house and children , read a little , watch TV , do some sports and invite some friends , i am ignoring the news .We don't go out at night , the explosions are happening always at night . Kathy , thank you for praying and thinking of us .Visit me anytime .

Hi Kathy! - Thank you for your visit. I can see why you like to go to South Carolina! Is this your home there? This is just beautiful! I love the ocean view! It would be nice to sleep at night listening to the waves coming in!
How is Ebony? I hope she is feeling better now!
I am sorry, no pictures. I totally forgot to get any cameras out to take pictures with. We had some disposables left over from my husbands retirement party last year that weren't used up. We were going to finish them with Jenny's party. People started coming and I was busy checking food and greeting and etc..... It rained (poured) most of the afternoon, but we had a large tent up. There were people in the Gabezo, carport, garage, etc, but everyone seemed to have a good time. I had rented an icecream cart and it went over big! We had a pinata for the children. Despite the rain, most people showed up! I was surprised. The meat we prepared was all gone when the party was over! We had cooked 60 chicken breats, 6 1/2 lbs. meatballs and a large package of polish sausage from Sam's Club. All of the salads were 1/2 to 3/4 gone! We had a storm system go through our area yesterday afternoon (it was 89 degrees and humid) and we woke up to 51 degrees this morning. We have had some strange weather this year. Earlier in the week it was in the 40's a couple of nights. We had a fire in the fireplace 4 days ago just to take the chill out of the air.
I talked to my parents yesterday and my dad said they finally got some rain yesterday. Their well that they water their lawn with dried up about 7 weeks ago. (It has never done that before.) They were glad to get the rain. It has rained in Fort Myers and not rain in Cape Coral. My mom is about the same. The pain just doesn't go away and the doctors don't know why she is having it.
Apples and peanut butter. My children have always like to eat it. Jenny was raised on peanut butter. I have seen her eat it for breakfast, lunch and supper all on the same day!
Have a great day, Kathy.

Gday Kathy hope this isn't too soon to visit again. Just thought I'd pop in to give you a brief pet overview. Never had a dog personally but my bro had a corgi named Renee when we were kids(so many years ago). I've always been a cat person but less so as we become empty nesters(wishful thinking). We started with 2 cats, at one mad stage we had 12 and have currently got 4. No more!! No wonder I was once known as 'The Cat Lady'.

Hi Kathy, I hope you have a wonderful week in Fripp Island, S.C. Your place, with the ocean view, looks really great. We used to live just a couple of blocks from the ocean and I remember (and envy you) being lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean's waves breaking on the shore. I hope you guys have a wonderful with your grandchildren.
Yes, Tasha's commissioning ceremony (well, Ensign Bernhardt's) was very nice. Mike and I took part in her ceremony by removing her velcro straps that covered her 'gold stripes' (and star) on her cuff, Jeff replaced her 'cover' (her hat) and then Jeff's dad (who retired from the Navy) rendered her her 'first salute' from an enlisted person. When we headed back for SaraLyn's grad., we hit horrible, horrible traffic and what normally takes 2 hours, took almost 4. Mike was not going to miss the grad. so once we were out of traffic, he drove a 'lot' faster than the speed limit and we got there just 15 minutes before it started. It was a great ceremony, too. we got lots of pictures of her (and earlier of Tasha, too). I even got video pictures with my new camcorder that Mike got me (my early birthday present for June 10). Then at the grad. party, she won 2-$50 gift certificates for Wal-Mart. Because of all her difficulties that she has had, to her (and to us) this was even more special.
Well, again, have a wonderful trip.

Hi Kathy! - Happy Anniversary to you and your husband. How is Ebony? By now I hope she is back to normal. Did you have a good trip? My dad said that they have had a little bit of rain, but not much. My aunt, who lives about 5 miles south of them, has had a lot more rain than they have had. It is strange how those clouds come and go!

Hi Kathy,
Happy Belated 40th Anniversary to you and Rob. Hope you had a great time. And hope you have a great time with Caleb.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Mike had his dialysis schedule changed because his surgery was scheduled for Wed., the 13th and that threw him off. He thought the 10th was the 9th and boy was he embarrassed when my brother called and wished me a happy birthday. But it turned out to be a very nice birthday. Mike even cooked a very nice dinner...He's a great cook.
Mike's surgery went well after a long delay (instead of 7:30 am, it was 3:00 pm). Because his potassium was WAY too high to do surgery, they had to take him upstairs for 2 hours of dialysis to get rid of the excess (from 6.2 to 4.5). After that, everything went really well. He now has a new 6 inch scar on his belly. With all his scars, pretty soon we will be able to play tic-tac-toe on it. I brought him home on Sunday, and today, Tuesday, he was outside watering his veggie garden and walking around checking out how big the fruit on our trees are. He also drove himself to dialysis yesterday.
And, WaaaaHoooo, SaraLyn just started her first job cleaning out pet cages at a pet store. But they are only giving her about 16 hours a week. THen she came home and got a call to interview for a full time job working the front desk at a local (nice) motel. She goes for that one tomorrow at 12 noon. When she had gone to fill out the application, she wore a dress and looked really nice which the hotel manager took notice of. It didn't take SaraLyn very long to decide which job would be best for her (and cleaner, too). She's still going to go to the pet store at 6 am tomorrow to explain to the manager that she really needs full time work so she can save enough money for beauty college.
Well, enjoy your time with your grandson and then your quiet time after that
.

Hi, Kathy!
It was good to hear from you! I'm glad you had a great time at your lovely beach home with all the family. I'm sure you are appreciating your 'alone' time this week, however.
I haven't been playing tennis lately. I hurt my hand during the last week of our spring season (early May), and everytime I've tried to play since then, it hurts. I've made an appointment with a sports med doctor but won't see him for a couple of weeks. My husband and I are heading to Neptune Beach for a little getaway next week (compliments of my tennis league members), so I didn't want to find out about my hand until we get back. I suspect it's a ganglia problem, but who knows? It only hurts when I play tennis so it doesn't bother me......just as long as I'm back to normal by the fall season! I would also like to play in our league-sponsored round robins this summer at Jekyll Island (July 21 and August 18), but that remains to be seen!
One of my nieces (we have no kids, but lots of nieces and grand-nieces and nephews!) visited with her boy friend a couple of weeks ago, and we had a wonderful time - touring Savannah and spending lots of time on the beach.
Cheers! Jane

Hi Kathy! It's a small world, isn't it? Let's see if I can remember all the info...I was born at Huron Road Hospital in East Cleveland. I doubt if it's still there! My Dad was a Navy pilot and my Mom, brother, and I (eventually) were living with my grandparents while he was overseas. My grandparents lived on Euclid Ave. in East Cleveland. By the way, I beat you by 2 years! I was born March 2, 1944

No, I didn't go to school in Cleveland. We moved to Columbus when I was about three. We were there maybe six years? The Navy wasn't moving people around because of the 'Korean Conflict'.
From there we moved around quite a bit, never out of the U.S. though. Lived on Navy bases and 'civilian areas' until my Dad ended up at the Pentagon when I was in high school. I've been in the VA/MD area ever since. I met my husband while he was teaching at the Naval Academy. Married in 1970. He worked for the DOD, private enterprise, and DOD again. He retired from the Naval Research Labratory in DC. I was very fortunate to be able to stay home and not have to work. Kids both married. Two grandchildren. Loving his retirement and traveling!
