Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July.  I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015.  She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long.  We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

Talk about anything and everything, but place your comments in the right categories so that people on slow internet connections can still enjoy the site. Also, be nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Hi, Kathy. Thanks for the welcome! I later posted I thought the chili might have come from the Andes in Peru, but don't quote me.
Your You-Tube is lovely. I almost never watch them, but have such fond memories of Mr. Rogers, made an exception. I nearly cried.
Hope you're having a nice Easter, if applicable.

Kathy,
Did you get my personal message about irish setters? I've noticed my computer often doesn't send e-mails from web pages.

Kathy - wonderful to hear from you! Gus now has about four coats of paint - we are going to have to figure something out soon, because the guy at the store last time sold my daughter oil-based paint instead of water-based, and she didn't know any different. We may strip him down, will probably just prime him with something and put another three or four coats on before we take him back to bare concrete.
Jeanie's mom is doing better - a big part of the problem is her total lack of ability to communicate with us. There was a great deal of misinterpretation of things that went on the other night as Jeanie talked to people (it seems!), but in the end they DID find that her bladder infection was getting worse not better. So maybe it has all worked out. They just last week moved her to the part of the facility for the lower-functioning patients, again due mainly based on her communication skills. She just can't participate in so much of what goes on with the higher functioning patients. Very frustrating.
I am through working with the physical therapist, now it is all up to me. Probably six to eight months before I am terribly happy with the final results, but I have gotten most of my range of motion back. The major things right now are strength and anything backwards and behind my back (like tucking in a shirt or trying to scratch my back). I have to be happy with progress and remember to keep doing my exercises even when I am not seeming to see improvement.
Sorry for the LONG note!!

Kathy, I hope you had a wonderful Easter. My son's bar mitzvah is in Jan. 2010 and it is very much like planning a wedding. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to plan an extravagant affair but am going to do what I can. He wants a baseball theme so I am looking at a tailgate party. The food bill would be a lot less and all I have to serve is beer and wine, not incur a big bar tab. I am going to start getting prices once school lets out. Just got all my students through FCAT, now I just have to survive the last quarter of school.

Hi Kathy -- Thanks for the kind welcome! I live on the east side of Cleveland in the suburbs. We've been here for about 6 yrs now. I am in awe of the many times you have moved - our move out here from Maryland was such an enormous effort. But then, I guess the more you do it, the more you get used to it.

thanks kathy, I was so proud of myself. However, like you, there is not enough time in my day leftover for making similes etc. I will have a go at an avatar another day. Off to the gym now.

Hi Kathy - I'm glad you liked my pics -- We don't travel that much, but this trip was so fantastic, I decided to put a few pics up from it. I'll probably put a few more up in a little bit. No, I'm not a Grandma yet. My daughter is still in college.

Hi Kathy! I don't always go back to check the posts. We're driving to Orlando starting the 9th and will arrive there on the 11th. My youngest marches with his school band in Magic Kingdom on the 14th. I think the band has stuff scheduled everyday, fun stuff of course, but I don't think we'll be leaving Disney. It will be lots of fun. Disney is my favorite and I'm not sure who will have more fun, Ian or me! This will be our second visit there ever.(I'm just sorry my other 3 kids are away at school and can't come.)

BTW, I love the anthem youtube! Was that from one of the college playoff games? The girls did a fantastic job!

Your grandkids are adorable!

Have a great day!

Kathy, I very much like the idea of there being an area where all the Sudoku pets can enjoy each other's company while waiting for their owners. I'd love to meet some of the other pets that members have loved and lost. Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Kathy. I can see why you were a bit tired after minding your Grandkids! They're a wonderful bunch but like like they're packed with plenty of energy! I'm sorry i haven't replied to the email you sent. Thanks for that. I've be busy with photos! We had a big clean out of our dam up the river over the Easter weekend & I took a lot of photos, then last weekend we were in a country town called Braidwood for a nephew's wedding & I took even more photos there so I've been just dropping into sudoku for the puzzles & just reading what everyone's talking about in between up loading photos! About the tennis it's just social I'm the youngest some of them have been playing together for over 40yrs! I've had 2 broken ankles in the last couple of years so I don't jump as much as I used to & don't like running backwards & they're all getting careful too. If I'd been playing with them 10 yrs ago they'd be running rings around me!! So it's just for fun. I feel like I've suddenly got a bunch of older sisters! Which I always wanted: I am the eldest in my family!

Kathy, so sorry to hear your trip got canceled. May you find an alternative just as good. We will meet some day, some way, but it is too bad the six of us couldn't have hooked up in SF. That would have been a lot of fun.

At least your second favorite team won. Just think Davidson nearly beat the J-hawks. If they had, the Cinderella team may have made it all the way. A lot of good games this year.

Hi Kathy, thanks for dropping in. The bride's family is Australian Scottish! The grooms mother didn't like the bridesmaids dresses either. But I did. thought they made a great change from some of the pastels that are usually worn!
Yes that's me! There is one of me in my gallery too, apart from the ones when I young!
The regular tennis ladies are older than you, they're in their 70's! A couple who only come occasionally are a bit older than me.

Kathy, I sent you a "private message" via this Sudoku site. Could it be lost in cyberspace? Take a look in your Inbox (upper right-hand corner of the page) and see if it is there. It was pretty wordy. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll try to remember what I said...

Kathy, I must have been good for a few laughs! We had a "Woman at the Helm" race where the only person who could steer the boat had to be a woman. So for my family of one man, one adolescent boy and a 2 month old baby boy, I was the only one who could take the helm. Baby boy (the Marine now) was asleep for most of the race except for the leg home and when he woke he was hungry! So somewhere there is a picture of my steering the boat and nursing at the same time.

Hi, Kathy!I won't have Antoine because he's starting nursery school next week and his parents don't want to change his life rythm just now. Elea is very happy not to share us with her brother and do the kids sudoku and have her own mails.
I saw the matches yesterday, Roddick beat Llodra and Blake beat P.H. Mathieu. Our poor French players were called 3 days ago because Tsonga and Gasquet were wounded, and they've been very close to a surprising success.
I must try to send some pictures. My female lab is white (Prisca) and her brother is black(Pyrrhus). they're really very sweet with the kids.

Hi Kathy. You are correct, Jonah the Loggerhead Sea Turtle should be released quite soon. When I measured him the first week of the month, he had reached the release size (45cm straight caliper measurement of his carapace). Staff were waiting for FWC to set an exact release date and time as of last week. Shosho is probably the one you saw post about Jonah. She calls Jonah 'Jonas' and no matter how many times I tell her the animal is named after the biblical figure who was swallowed by a whale, she continues to call him Jonas LOL. Apparently she has a student named Jonas and cannot snap the connection in her mind!
I was priviledged to help release Jezebel Loggerhead Sea Turtle in March. You can see that release on the Loggerhead Marinelife Center's blog:
http://70.47.137.98/?p=525#comments
I am in the middle of the 4th pic. See if you can spot the comment by a fellow sudoku fan!
We have a nice new building now to replace the tumbledown ex-motel we were once in.

Kathy, Jonah will not be publicly released on Juno Beach the way we do other, larger, loggerheads. To assure the animal has not become habituated to humans, he will be released without fanfare into the Indian River Lagoon/Intercoastal Waterway. Only LMC & FWC staff will be there to make sure that Jonah swims off and acts like a loggerhead should, looking for and pursuing prey. If all roughly 2000 adoptive parents were there, then Jonah might not react properally. I am certain he will take off like a shot and start hunting right away, as he is aggressive towards anything in his tank. I am sure the animal will thrive in the wild!
Despite Jaz's comment, it is not me holding the green sea turtle. I am impossible to miss in the 4th pic, I am dead center of the photo, right behind the animal, in a Loggerhead Marinelife Center white tee shirt and faded blue jeans. I am surprised you could see me in the third photo, as I was the back guy on the (animal's) left side, and I am mostly obscured by the leaders.
Yes, our new facility is very nice. I hope someday you can see it!

Thank you for noticing my 30 pound weight loss! I was diagnosed as a type-II diabetic about a year and a half ago, and the doc said that if I lost weight, my condition would improve. He was right! My diabetes is (in Doc's words) "under control."
Also, I did cut my hair. I had a ponytail halfway down my back. When my Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year (she died Sept 15, 2007) I cut my hair and donated it to "Locks of Love" which makes hairpieces/wigs for cancer victims who have lost hair due to chemo. I thought Mom would be pleased that I cut my hair, as she had been after me to do so for years. But when I showed up at her house with short hair, she claimed she did not notice!
And as far as being forgetful.... what was I gonna say?!?!?
