Today's tough puzzle is not overly difficult.

Nevertheless, I have decided to us it as fodder for another new blog page.

A link to this page is in the upper right column, directly under 'Check out the Sudoku Blog'.

Hopefully, this illustrated proof will be helpful for many.

I agree Steve - not such a tough one today. Is the chimp on the right reading a book?

steve - isn't e6=5 a unique possibility making this a 'hard' as opposed to 'tough' puzzle

15:09; no guesses; if I were to guess, I'd say, the monkey was saying to the photographer, 'What, never seen a lovers' spat before?'

Typically, the hard puzzles at this site solve using only Unique Possibilities and perhaps a pair or a locked candidate or two.

Today's puzzle needs at least coloring, and perhaps a Y wing to solve - or something equivalent to them. Not very tough, but not as easy as most of the hards here.

e6=5 is not a unique possibility until after at least the application of a some technique - the choice of technique to get e6=5 is large.

Nevertheless, even after getting that cell solved, the puzzle does not fall apart with only UP's.

If, however, someone has a method that unlocks this puzzle easier than the one I posted in the blog, I would be much obliged if they were to reveal that method.

Shruti and Deb are pretty good reading the body language. They had just been playing with each other and then had evidently had some sort of disagreement and were giving each other the silent treatment. It didn't last long however. The ropes are part of an elaborate climbing frame just above them and they were off up it shortly after. Taken at Taronga Zoo.

Kate, that must have been so cute to watch. Now, if only humans could make up that easy...

I usually can't solve the 'tough' puzzles but today's was easy. All of you math guys, I'm sorry, but I don't understand the solutions, even though I try. I don't understand th Y wing at all.
Judy  From San Diego
Very likely, RENA! LOL

Hi Sue!
I have a blog page 'Y wings', that explains Y wings. It is couched in mathematics type language to show how it relates to other techniques.
If you can be more specific in how I lose you, I am fairly certain that you are not the only one. I have set up an email address for this purpose: solidsudoku@yahoo.com. I am in your debt if you can help me to build a better blog by letting me know how I am unclear for you.
