Thanks for the extra bits, deltz! This seems to be a worldwide thing. Up here the tallest old lighthouse has been turned into a hotel! Quite popular during the summer, but a very hard to reach place in the winter.

How great it would be to stay in a lighthouse! If I'm ever in Finland during the summer.....

Kathy - There is suppose to be a B & B in the Upper Peninsula on Lake Superior in an old Lighthouse! Wouldn't that be fun?

They are getting quite popular. I live around the Delaware bay (USA) and there are lighthouses everywhere. Groups actually have sales, (bake/cake, raffles, etc) to raise monies to help restore them. If you get a chance, suggest taking a tour around those were you live. Very interesting and enlighting.
