A Thought For The Day:

If you’re having second thoughts, you’re two ahead of most people.

Our skatepark is still coever in snow.

There has been a shipwreck, and Mr. Cee, HalT, and Canuk Greg are washed ashore on a small island. Reaching the shore, exhausted, they all fall asleep. Mr. Cee awakes first and sees that a box of donuts has been washed ashore. He eats a More...

Wait a minute! Greg only eats Beavertails, Serena!

Put anything snow-related into storage for next year...
I called my 98 year-old Mom yesterday to ask her how she was doing. Her answer? 'Sick of snow!' She still has banks up to the eaves!(Pushed up by plowing.) She said she'd rather be planting her veggie garden!

I won a blue ribbon (first) with one of my Orchid paintings yesterday at the Orchid Festival!
(Should I mention that mine was the only entry in the painting category!)
25/Mar/14 1:00 AM

I'd love to see a photo of your painting, Shiela!

And as far as putting away snow-related items....hubby ran the gas out of the snow blower, cleaned it up and put it in the back shed 4 days before we got another dump of snow. That we then had to shovel, I might add.

This from Kathy:

''Tonight (8:15PM) we're back at our favorite hangout in Cairns - McDonald's. The wi-fi connection here is excellent & free, plus it's right across the street from our hotel. Jane is busy posting some pics of the last two days*. We had a lot of fun with Susan Sorbello More...

Shiela, If your painting was good you deserved the prize. If it wasn't, then the judges needn't have awarded you any prize (never mind the blue ribbon).

In one of our local art shows, the judges thought that all the entries were 'less than good' (that is not their words) and so didn't award any prizes at all.

I suspect that K&J only went to McDonald's because Wichetty Grubs weren't on the Aboriginal Cultural Show menu.

Good morning to all! It was fun to do a puzzle again. That lad will be tackling bigger challenges on his skateboard in no time.

I'm just back from dropping my sister and brother-in-law (Rosemary and Bill) at the train station. They are off to Belleville to visit Bill's sister and a brother who lives just out of town there.

It was wonderful to have my sister here to help celebrate my birthday. In all my years here in this condo, it was the first time she was able to finally make the trip here due to health issues she was suffering. We had a great visit, with plans slightly disrupted on Saturday when another 15 Cms of snow fell.
25/Mar/14 2:29 AM
At the show while standing quietly near my painting two people wanted to buy it when I said 'Thank you!' to their comments... (I'm a bit sneaky sometimes - you get more candid comments, that way!) ...so I guess it could have deserved the ribbon! Another person told me that another Orchid show wanted me to exhibit it at their show...

Thank you for all the birthday wishes on the site, by email and with e-cards. A weird thing happened on my page though, as when my comments jumped from an old page to a new page, about 15 or more old comments showed up on the new page. The comment count is correct, but for some reason these four More...

What happened?? No puzzles posted over the weekend!!
25/Mar/14 2:34 AM
I should have mentioned, regarding my sister's first visit here, she lives about 1,000 miles away from here in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
25/Mar/14 2:37 AM
Evidently, you can not be replaced, Greg.

I've never had a problem with comments on my page. But, now that I've said that......

How nice that your sis and her hubby could visit. I'm sure you had a fantastic time, even with the disruption of that white stuff.
25/Mar/14 2:43 AM
CG: Ottawa <--> Thunder Bay = 1000 miles??

25/Mar/14 2:47 AM
Neil, ''Throw another witchetty grub on the barbie'' doesn't have the same mouth watering connotation as ''shrimp''.

Although, for those wondering.....
''The raw witchetty grub tastes like almonds and when cooked the skin becomes crisp like roast chicken while the inside becomes light yellow, like a fried egg.''

I think I'd still rather have shrimp, thank you.
25/Mar/14 2:48 AM
Kathy, You eat them raw and wriggling. You DO NOT put them on the barbie.
25/Mar/14 2:57 AM
Kathy, I read the other day that what I call witchety grubs turn into Xmas beetles (aka cut beetles) but must admit I have never tried to BBQ them!
It is absolutely pouring here, and I have spent most of the night mopping - not the most congenial pastime! If this keeps up (as predicted) I will need a boat to visit Kathy and Jane on Sunday!
25/Mar/14 3:03 AM
Lone, close to chum. That was an estimate. It's actually only about 950 miles.
25/Mar/14 3:13 AM

A man received the following text from his neighbor:
I’m so sorry Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess.
I have been tapping your wife, day and night when you're not around.
In fact, more than you. I do not get any at home, but that's no More...
