I would like to thank everyone who posted a message for me yesterday. I posted the comment as well as Linda’s photo hoping to get a sort of ‘inoculation against sadness’ from my friends at Sudoku.com.au. It worked! But the outpouring of affection was far greater than I was expecting. I am truly More...

Good morning, Sue, Angie, Stella and Jim!

Jim, no one should be alone. You have us and we have you, I'd say that's fair enough. Whoever said (and I'm sure someone out there will tell me who, so I thank you in advance) "No man (woman or child) is an island" My commment in the parenthesis but it applies. The quote is so true, More...

I get to be a first pager today, yeah!

Damp, cool, humid, and some rain and thunderbumpers forecast for Alabama USA today. We can still use the rain.

Hot here north of San Diego, but we can't go to the beach because of a nasty little incident on Friday with a Great White Shark ...

After such a long string of bad luck, maybe this is one that Tassie Peter could actually catch!

Pretty quick without possibilities.

Just got back in town Friday night from a visit with Kathy and Rob at their fabulous oceanfront home on Fripp Island, SC. What a place! Although we were only there a couple of days (got a late start because Jaime and I were recovering from nasty colds), we did a lot of fun stuff. Kathy and Rob More...

Judy - I just googled the shark incident. What a tragedy! Fortunately, we don't get many great whites on the Atlantic Coast - but we have plenty of other kinds of sharks.

After prowling a Street Fair along the Coast yesterday, we drove up the shoreline. It was a very hot day, and, while the beach was packed, we saw no one in the water! It was very eerie and surreal, reminiscent of "Jaws" ...

We had a dry winter. The crickets moved into the bathroom last night. They come in by way of the water pipes. I guess the condensation lures them.

My theory is reinforced. There are but two types of people in the world. Fools and damned fools. (I include myself in that equation, not just sure where exactly). Don't these folks know that as soon as they put their 5 little piggies in that ocean, they have become the bottom of the food chain? More...

Jeb - Unfortunately, we fools far outnumber the non-fools! I swim in the ocean just about every day the air temp is above 75 degrees. Of course, I have an agreement with sharks: I won't eat them if they don't eat me. So far, 40 years into my plan, it's working!

I talk to a lot of people in my volunteer work at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and I am often asked if there are sharks in the Atlantic, which is about 200 yards away and visible from the turtle yard. I usually respond "How did you get here today?" and they look puzzled.
"I drove More...

Aw, Jeb, it sounds like you're not fond of the ocean! Your shoreline there in Kansas must be very scary. Hey, what's life without a little risk and adrenaline to keep the blood flowing?

There are "rules of engagement," however, none of which the victim was More...

Keith, whatever you do, don't read the contents of anything edible wrapped in cellophane you've purchased at the supermarket.

Wait a minute...

Rules of engagement? From the bottome of the food chain?

Said the rabbit to the hawk: "Hey, aren't you supposed to yell 'here I come' or something? I want a do over."

everyone from beautiful So. Oregon ...

Don't let Keith fool you. He doesn't have a freeway even close to where he lives. The 101 "freeway" through his town is a 2 lane road with one traffic light.

Dave... I bet it's good to bicycle on!
28/Apr/08 3:54 AM

Wouldn't want to attempt I 95 or the 101 on a bicycle, though! I'd take the sharks (either kind) any day!

Ok so there's sharks in the water but somehow I don't think I could anywhere far from the ocean. I've got this addiction to seeing the ocean and the mountains everyday. That's why I live here. That and family too.
28/Apr/08 4:04 AM

I'd love to live near an ocean & mountains as you do, shosho!
...but my family does not live near an ocean.

Judy, we've got quite a bit to run up our adrenalin without adding imaginary ones as well. I think the freeways are a part of our lives and we enter them without a second thought.
