Our heat wave is a thing of the past, at least for the moment. An absolutely gorgeous day here, sunny, breezy with a high of 80°.

Oops! I must not forget my ''stand in for Greg'' duties....

Customer service received the following letter recently. Luckily, they were able to determine the meaning and help the woman. Can you work out (1) what her problem was and (2) what the letter said?

Our second heat wave of the summer is here, will be having 90+ for most of the week. Always better than 100+ temps.

Well, Canadian hopes were dashed again, but having made it this far was great. Petra Kvitova totally dominated Canadian Eugenie Bouchard in the Woman's Final. C'est la vie, but Bouchard has a great future to look forward to.

Good morning Greg, you have a couple of rising stars in the tennis over there, they will get their turn in the winners circle I am sure.

LOVE the picture but wish the title was under the pic instead of disappearing. I used to have a memory but not any more!

all. Greg, I felt sorry for poor Eugenie today. She is a great player with high hopes, so it had to hurt a lot to be beaten so badly by Kvitova. But I loved that commentator Chris Evert mentioned that she, too, was held to only 3 games won in her Wimbledon debut against Billie More...

I'm currently listening to the online radio coverage of the match between the twin Bryan brothers & the Canadian Pospisil who uno told us about yesterday. They are tied 3 all in the 5th set!! I'm sorry I couldn't find TV coverage. Pospisil & American Jack Sock are playing very well. This is the first 5 set match the Bryan brothers have had to play in this tournament.

I wanted so bad to see that cat picture bigger that I finally figured out I could right click on it, past it into a word document and then drag the corner down and right to enlarge it. That is a precious picture! Wish the jigsaw for easy worked.

While searching for the Pospisil match, I came across another Canadian player!! Daniel Nestor (age 42!) has a 21 year old French partner named Mladenovic, and they are playing in the Mixed Doubles Final right now, too!

 |  |

Excuse me. I made a mistake. Nestor & Maldenovic were playing a semi-final match. They just lost. Pospisil & Sock are at 4-4 in the 5th. What a tight match! uno is probably sleeping in Adelaide right now.

Canada - you have a winner!!! Pospisil & Sock just won the match, 7-5 in the 5th! This was the first time they have ever played together, & they were playing against a VERY tough & experienced team. Congratulations to Vasek & Jack!!

Well, Canada does have a Wimbledon champ. Vasek Pospisil and his American partner Jack Sock won the Men's Double final. Well done for both of the unranked players!

to uno for cluing us in about this match! I'm not sure I would have tuned in if uno hadn't mentioned it yesterday.

Greg, were you able to watch the match on TV?
06/Jul/14 5:47 AM
 |  |

Yes Kathy, And thanks to Uno as well but I was also following the Men's Doubles. That was the most exciting and well played match (by both teams) of the finals. Great tennis!

Greg, who would you like to see win the Men's Singles Finals tomorrow? Anybody else care to chime in? uno should be waking up soon. Maybe he will chime in soon.

Good morning all. Not many posts today - maybe the topsiders are exhausted from their celebrations yesterday and those down under are having a Sunday sleep in.

Sandra, I'm looking for my memory too. We're having visitors today, but completely forgot that I'd offered to feed them. Hubby asked me Friday night what we we'd be eating. I had no idea what he was talking about!

No worry about heat wave here . We're definitely in a cold wave here. Another beautiful frost this morning.

Kathy and Greg, it's really good to see new young stars emerging to challenge those at the top. I'd like Federer to win, just for old times sake.

Good morning. It's shaping up to be a beautiful day here. Cold, though. I'm praying for rain on Wednrsday, cos then there won't be fog. Which would delay my departure from Canberra and probably make me lose my connection to Bali. I am off on the same trip as last year, teaching on the island of Flores but with 3 days R&R in Bali first.

Pospisil & Sock. Sounds like an early '50s TV puppet show.

Remember Kukla, Fran and Ollie?

Good morning all.
I enjoyed yesterday's meet. It is always wonderful meeting Sudoku members I have not met before & catching up with those I have met on previous meets. The weather co-operated wonderfully. In fact, for the middle of winter it was so warm that we had to move to a shadier area (at which point all bar the hardy Canberrans donned coats, scarves etc.)

I agree, Sacky. Federer deserves one more big win ... at least.
