Had a great vacation hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Hiked about 22 1/2 miles altogether. Longest hike this time was 9.5 miles to Charlie's Bunion & Jumpoff. We saw a black bear cub, a wild boar running directly at us (!), and lots of butterflies and waterfalls. Love that area! I think we've hiked all of the 'day trips' there.

Shiela that is a beautiful area, our family has hiked the Smoky Mts. several times. It is so peaceful and beautiful.

How is your hand doing?

Aphorism of the day:
If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense.

This picture is going to delight Jim from Jupiter.

Brilliant aphorism, appy.

Thanks for asking, Nancy. My hand is doing pretty well. Not quite 'like new', but getting closer. I can bend my thumb the same distance as around my hiking stick easily.

Shieila - sounds like a wonderful respite with Mother Nature. Glad you were able to get so much hiking in...one of my favortie activites.
Anu - hahahaha (just demonstrating my sense on humor )

Is that Alvaro, Jane?
09/Jun/10 12:38 AM
Yes, Heidi. You have a good memory!!!
09/Jun/10 12:39 AM
We haven't seen him in years. Decades, actually.
09/Jun/10 12:39 AM
He'll probably have plenty of earthquake stories to tell.

Wow. Decades. But Chile isn't exactly an easy distance for visiting.

Old man sitting on his front porch down in Alabama at 6:00 am watching the sun rise sees the neighbor's kid walk by carrying something big under his arm.
He yells out, 'Hey boy, whatcha got there?'
Boy yells back 'Roll of chicken wire.'
Old man says 'What you gonna do with that?' More...

Mother Nature at it's worst??? On the way home from vacation we went past the Friday night tornado damage in SE Michigan (Dundee, MI area). Mother Nature was not happy that day. So many houses in ruins along M-50. One was just sticks left! Amazing that no one was killed along there. There was a More...

Mornin', all. I'm back. I spent the last 4 days "down south". (80 miles south) Dentist, then trying to wait out a muscle spasm in the small of my back. The spasm is still with me. Strange, but the most comfortable I've been is when I'm driving. Guess the seat in the pickup is "just right".

Don't tell Jim, but as far as I'm concerned there could never be enough cat pictures.

There are female jokes and there are unisex jokes. Here is a joke I consider a true female joke.

I offer it to you in the hopes that women will love it and men will pass it along to a woman who will love it!

A woman was sitting at a bar enjoying an after work cocktail with her More...

Jim & gals - that reminds me of the bachelor auction I went to a couple of months ago. The bachelor I had bidded on went for $450 - he was a computer tech. (my bid was $250)
09/Jun/10 1:50 AM
Geez, Eve ... if you wanna have FUN, don't bid on a computer geek!
09/Jun/10 1:53 AM
Judy - a "landscaper" wouldn't be to bad right now - or in a month or so - watch him work in the yard, digging trenches (no shirt) for planting latter. I'd even let him shower before going out to dinner and dancing.

1:55 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.

Jerry do you have to travel 80 miles just to visit the dentist? And I thought a few miles was bad enough here! Hope your back gets better soon.
Jane enjoy your time with Jamie's brother sounds as though you will have a lot to catch up on.
Shiela your trip sounds wonderful. There is nothing better than walking in beautiful countryside.
