Good morning to all! Is that Aussies Rule football by any chance? |  |
High jumpers playing rugby. It's called rugby in Canada...not football as in other places. |  |
 6:09 We call it soccer. |  |
Yhanks Nina...I was thinking that bmight be but wasn't sure but it can be confusing talking about this sport unless you clarify exactly which one it is in your country. My son played on the Canadian team for a year. |  |
Well Done, Nice Rugby |  |
Aussie Rules Not soccer, different shaped ball. Looking forward to Ireland vs Australia later in year! |  |
I am USA - I know what we call football, rugby, and soccer - can anyone please explain the difference - I thought the difference was football and soccer - didn't know rugby was thrown into the confusion. |  |
What!!! No cats or dogs??? Great picture...Thanks.Happy Thanksgiving Day Canada...heh! And... everyone... |  |
Surely that is not rugby, it is Aussie Rules.Rugby players don't wear sleeveless shirtsand little shorts like that. |  |
Yesterday, while researching the term 'football' to describe the American game, I learned that soccer and football evolved from the game 'Rugby' which started in 1823 at the Rugby Boys School in England! After looking at the photos on the AFL (Australian Football League), I see that the ball to More... |  |
I remember being told that there is rugby, where you pick up an oval ball and run with it and football where you kick it only. The term soccer comes from Association Football which is the organistion that started the football leagues in UK. I stand to be corrected because I have not looked this up on any website anything. |  |
Let me set the record straight - the game in the photo is Aussie Rules. There are several forms of football including soccer, rugby, gaelic etc depending on where you come from. Rugby was spawned by soccer when William Webb Ellis, whilst playing football(soccer)picked up the ball More... |  |

Anybody else think that there is an ironic connection between the game and the advertisement for physiotherapy on the fence? |  |
I think that da Bears would dominate in any sport referred to, my friend, as 'football', regardless of the shape of the inflated leather sphere that is used for the game, or whether the players wore equipment or not...Da Bears. |  |
 2:41~ W/ options. They jump really high~ |  |
 5.02 very quick |  |
This is definitely aussie rules footie - good call canuk greg! the ball gives it away. it is really fast moving. a couple of aussie guys have gone to the american nfl as their kickers (did I get that right?) ben graham is playing for the jets and i can't remember the other guy. worth watching a game if you ever get the chance. |  |
I think it's called soccer because you kick and control the ball with your socks....covered by a boot of course......lol |  |
From the sign on the fence this game is being played in or near Kingston. Where is Kingston? Vic/WA/SA????? |  |
Kingston is a suburb of the ACT. I think that is where this photo is. |  |
There is 2 Kingston's in SA, one in the Spouth East and one on the Murray. |  |
4:02 - This is definitely Aussie Rules or Arial Ping Pong. Only AFL jump high like that. It is called a mark |  |
I used to love to watch Australian Rules Football - ESPN used to carry it, back when they were limited in what they could afford to televise. Very fun game to watch. |  |
Whatever the game is called, it looks like an interesting, fast-paced one! |  |
I think it's Kingston in ACT. There is a Kingston physio and sports injury centre (yes, Observer, sports injury centre) and the trees with the flats peeping through look very like that area. It still has the charm of an oval in a country town, unlike the ones in the big cities. |  |

3.41oooo AFL .. the best football game in town.about 130 days ago till the season starts again ... cant wait.have a great day/night one and all |  |
There are in fact 6 Kingston's (plus four variations - beach, park etc) listed in our Postcode directory - in every state except NSW. I agree, though, looks like Canberra (ACT). |  |
Rugby? I thought those guys were trying to get a cat out of the tree! |  |
This is not a game at all...it is a ritual of religious importance. After prayer we leap into the air and the Great One appears in the form of a red smartie. The one who catches and consumes it is annointed for life and gets free admission to Smartie Pants Land...oh and also the local fair. |  |
5:36 It looks very much like aussie rules to me. |  |
Please see Parent page for Outlander Discussion on Parent page. |  |
3.34 - Rosemary does that make it 129 sleep, I can't wait, I'm already missing it. Not enjoying the trade talks I don't want to lose Taz. (I named my dog after him). |  |
