Denny, Wolf & everyone!
Sunny, but cool.
There's a wedding today here where the groom rented two shirts so he could change if he got too hot & sweaty. Looks like he may have to wear both at the same time to stay warm!
Have a good one!

Yay, my new refrigerator is coming four hours! I can hardly wait, a freezer on one side and refrigerator on the other. I guess I'll find some forgotten frozen stuff which will need to be thrown out.

The Normandy Cemeteries were very sobering to see. On a tour, my hubby went to the American Cemetery & beaches and I went to the British Cemetery & beaches. (Between us, we saw them all.) It's too bad that wars have any place in modern society. Remember the WWI phrase - 'The War to End All Wars'? Sadly, humans never learn from history.

I experienced one of my most memorable moments at the American Cemetery in Normandy. As a teacher, I travelled many places with Student Ambassadors, including France. As our students walked politely and reverently around the Cemetery, the administrator of the Cemetery asked if we could supply students to take down the American flag in the Cemetery at dusk. That in itself was a thrill for all of us as we stood in a circle around the flagpole and watched our kids lower the flag in such a remarkable location. But as we sang our National Anthem, an even bigger surprise awaited us. On the paved circle behind us, there were at least 100 more people ... from all over the World, considering their accents and dress ... with their hands over their hearts, singing along with us. They cheered loudly as the solemn ceremony ended. It was so moving that we leaders and all of our kids had tears streaming down our faces. An experience that none of us will ever forget.

1:37. Such a nice story, Judy, particularly in these times of division and rancour. I think when we can put ideologies aside, we generally do all care for each other and share the same basic humanity and core values. At least I hope we still do...

Judy, what an unlikely privilege to happen to be asked to provide! I can understand how you may often find yourself remembering those moments with joy & reverence - also amazement!

Sobering reflection on man’s actions.
My uncle is interred in the Canadian section (for reasons unknown) in Belgium. 31 December 1944 at aged 19. My Dad finally got to see the grave when he was 86.

Dear Friends,

I thought that you might want to know about this.
I had a near death experience that has changed me forever.
The other day, I went horseback riding here in Vancouver.
Everything was going fine until the horse started bouncing out of control.
I tried with all my might to hang on, but I was thrown off.
My foot got caught in the stirrup.
When this happened, I fell head first to the ground.
My head continued to bounce harder.
The horse did not stop, or even slow down.
Just as I was giving up hope and losing consciousness... The Wal-Mart
manager came out and unplugged it. Thank goodness for heroes.

Happy to be alive,

DORA

Arachnid - your uncle was 19 years old; that's sobering. So many didn't even have a chance to live.
