And now.... for something completely different:

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing

And always look on the bright side of life
Come on!
Always look on the right side of life
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin
Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it, it's your last chance anyhow
So, always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of sh*t
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the right side of life
C'mon Brian, cheer up!
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
Worse things happen at sea, you know
Always look on the bright side of life
I mean, what have you got to lose
You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing
What have you lost? Nothing!
Always look on the right side of life...
Nothing will come from nothing, you know what they say?
Cheer up you old bugger, c'mon give us a grin!

Good morning all!
Oh, I do love those Monty Python guys! And 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life' is something I often need to remember! Thanks Heidi!
DorA - loved your risque/risky story. I was nearly to the end before I worked it out.
Saltie - thanks for coming back. We're all sudokuholics here. That's how SA started.
MizT - sounds like you had a long uncomfortable day. Hope you had a little snnoze and it helped you.

Lachlan, my grandson, is 19 today. It is amazing how time flies and how many wonderful memories one can accumulate in just 19 years. He's grown into a wonderful, thoughtful young man. I'm very proud of him.

Thanks Heidi - love this one. Read about the length of your RV - goodness, it is twice as long as my little caravan and I think I am clever when I tow it! Been ultra busy again these past few weeks, in hospital for a few days, daughters graduation (Bach. of Science - Major Micro-biology) - so proud she finished her studies for now. She says more to come. And tonight daughter, a couple of her friends and I are going to see Prof Brian Cox - just love his shows, He makes physics and the universe simpler to understand. Still come away feeling like a minute particle of nothing but I wouldn't miss his talks for anything. Arranging our KK early this year - we are having a $20 limit and the presents have to come from the op shops. I like this idea as you are helping others in a small way also.
Best wishes to you June - glad to hear you are doing ok. Suzy - love the stories of your grandies. MizT hope you are on the improve. And best wishes to all I haven't mentioned, have to get back to work. Cheers.

Re: opening a second page.

In addition to what saltie said, above,I highlight the link, then 'right click'. The result is a drop down menu that gives the option to open in a new tab, new window, and some others, including the option to bookmark the link. I use Firefox. Other browsers may be different....

You can try it, before you have a long comment composed, by right clicking on 'Next', as in Next page, just above at the end of the page numbers.

Of course, I stuff it, on occasion, and lose what I had typed....

And remember, y'all, Heidi tows a horse trailer behind her RV. She must do good, 'cause she's survived at least a couple of jaunts to take one of her mares, to a stud farm.

Another computer shortcut some may not be aware of, is 'pinning a tab'. If you right click on a tab, at the top of the page, a drop down menu will, among other things, have an option to 'pin tab'. (wording may be slightly different). If you 'pin the tab', it will open each time you start your browser.

It could be a tab for any site you frequent. Sudoku, weather, news, etc.. You may still have to log in, if you normally do, but it still saves one or more steps......

Hi, Everyone!

DOrA, I enjoyed your risky/risque story. I've seen it before, but had forgotten it, so it was fun all over again.

I haven't read much about the attack in New York. Now I will know about the 'truck driver' distinction.

Hi, Saltie! Do you prefer a lower case S? Please let us know, and I'll try to remember. Welcome to Sudokuaholics Anonymous! We're glad to have you as a member! Did you post on Easy or any of the other pages? (I rarely seem to get there any more, so I don't believe I've 'met' you before. And thanks for the tip for opening another SA page. I will try that!

Wow, MizT, sorry for the mix-up about your echocardiogram today. How inconvenient! I hope you are finally warmed up and resting comfortably!

Heidi, thank you for the song/words from Monty Python's Life of Brian. Did you sing as you typed?

CynB, Happy 19th Birthday to your grandson Lachlan. It's wonderful to see your grandies grow up to be fine young adults!

It's so nice to see your post here, Midge. So sorry you have had some hospital time. I hope all is well for you now! Congratulations to your D on her graduation. You said her studies aren't finished. Is she planning to continue on right away? I seem to remember that she had a full-time job as well as being a full-time student. Maybe she will want to catch her breath a little bit before continuing with her studies.

Wow, thanks for the additional tips for short-cuts while on the computer, DOrA! I just hope I can remember all these tips when I want to use them!

Thinking of everyone I've mentioned, as well as those I didn't, such as Broni, Nola, June, Suzy, Tami and others! All of the , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing energy, and prayers are to be shared by all!

Thank you to everyone for making me welcome.
I should mention that I won't necessarily be a regular poster, so don't worry if you don't see me for a few days, even weeks at a time. I mostly only post if I see an opportunity to be helpful, or if something has particularly annoyed me and I want to set it straight. Or sometimes if something just tickles my fancy.

You're right, MizT. I remembered the pick-ups last night, but I watch enough American TV shows that I shouldn't have forgotten in the first place. So much for the golden years...

DorA, thank you for bringing out the other tips that I am too lazy to remember or use! I drift along in my own little world and forget that others may find other options easier to use. Despite being reasonably well up on technology, I haven't so far been converted when it comes to tablets - I'm likely to get too stroppy when looking for the Shift key or other standard keyboard items.

My laptop really sucks. It was too cheap and has a sucky processor. I’m too impatient to use it much. I should get Alie’s boyfriend to have a look at it. He’s a whiz bang on a computer. TOS even head hunted him. That’s a weird expression, but I think you know what I mean. One of the things I like about my tablet is that it’s really good at guessing what I want to say. I can type whole sentences by typing the first letter, then selecting the word from the list above the keyboard. Sometimes it guesses badly and I type gibberish, so I have to pay attention or I look like an idiot. I can do that very well on my own without autocomplete helping me.

Busy day today, but fun. Issy had speech therapy so I took Tahli and Daniel to a coffee shop nearby. It was quiet so I let them run around the tables reading the numbers on them. Most had seating for 3 or more, but we squished in to one for 2 because it was number 5. Tahli is fascinated by things that are the same number as her age. Then we looked in some shops, and they were surprisingly well behaved. From there we went to the university for Tahli’s early intervention class. That went better this week. No meltdown.

Heidi, I love Monty python!

MizT, what a frustrating day! Hoping you get a good nights sleep.

Saltie, your and DorA’s tips and tricks are welcome. If my laptop starts working better, I might use it more.

One more correction to my 02/Nov/17 1:30 PM post, above.

You don't have to 'highlight' a link, before right clicking on it. Just pointing to it (put the cursor on it, then right clicking) will probably work just as well and is one step shorter...

After a little practice, it becomes second nature. I use it all the time. Like if I'm in the middle of reading the news and see a link I'd like to look at, later, without leaving the page I'm on.

Many folks aren't aware that right clicking anywhere on a page will open a sub-menu with available options.

Good morning all. TGIF here in Australia.
Midge, congratulatins to your daughter on her graduation. Well done! So envious that you are seeing Brian Cox. He's coming ro Brisbane and when tickets became available I asked my hubby to come but he wasn't interested. Then I asked my grandson who is a geek but he's already going with friends. So I gave up.
Nice to see saltie back.
Thanks for the birthday wished for Lachlan. Family dinner tonight for him.

CynB - he was wonderful again - we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Hubby is never keen to go to shows, and I don't expect him to have the same interests as me.I went to every one of Joe Cocker's shows solo except his last as I wasn't well enough to drive into Melbourne - gave my ticket to my sister and she didn't like it! Luckily my daughter loves anything to do with cosmology - we often get the telescope out together.

Greetings to all!

Saltie, we will welcome your posts whenever you are so moved

Suzy, Dana and kiddos are so fortunate to be able to spend time with you. Tahli and Daniel and Issy will have such fond memories of shared time with you, going to coffee shops & shopping, etc. So glad Tahli had a good early intervention class. How often do the girls have classes? Our younger one had some speech classes when she was about 3 1/2, then started again during Kindergarten & first grade. She was quite tall for her age, so some people didn't have the patience to try to understand what she was saying that they would have shown to a younger (looking) child. Seems like we had to do a lot of explaining when she was little.

Heidi, I hope your ear is improving!

Cyn, I enjoyed your not-quite-TOPP! I can't tell you how many times I have posted a misplace TOPP, whether too early or too late!

DOrA! Interesting story about the Spam. Does anyone here like it? I remember having it occasionally when I was young, and I think ONCE since we have been married. Hubby and I were both curious and couldn't remember what it tasted like from when we were kids. We were never interested enough to try it again.

I'm off to check email. Thinking of everyone and sending good cheer, positive thoughts, , healing energy, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Julie, I eat Spam. Yeah, I know 'Some Parts Are Meat'. Diced Spam in scrambled eggs, Diced Spam in fried rice and on occasion, a sandwich with fried Spam slices, cheese, dill pickles & mayo. I don't recall ever eating it plain out of the can. I wouldn't have any problem with that though...

June, I like DorA’s thought on the humdinger, though I don’t like that hospital happened again. Cyber hugs winging their way to you.

DorA, I think spam is one of those things that you have to grow up with, like Vegemite. I tried it once out of curiosity. Once. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it in stores here, but I might be misremembering.

Julie, Tahli has speech and occupational therapy weekly, at preschool now though. They used to come to Dana’s house to do it. Daniel qualified for one visit. Isobel has been a handful of times. She is fine now though, she just refused to talk for a while. It was weird how she managed it, she’d wave her hands at you and grunt and before you realised what had happened, you were doing what she wanted. Dana and her ex did this thing where they refused to do anything for her unless she used her words and, like magic, she started talking. Her assessment for therapy happened before that though. Daniel is still hard to understand. He could have used more sessions, but that’s not how the system works.

I, too, hope that it's a case of the-worse-they-are,-the-better-they-work, June.

I take the last antibiotic tomorrow for the ear. I still feel a lot of pressure behind the eardrum, but I'm hoping thats just because I need another tube in it. I do NOT feel feverish, fortunately.

I tried Spam once, many years ago. I can still taste it, and clearly remember how repulsive I found it. And I'm a carnivore.

For those asking, no, upper/lower case doesn't bother me either way.

We had our own versions of spam here - Luncheon Beef, Corned Beef or Camp Pie. None of them compare well with fresh meat, but they are a good nutrient source. They were staples for those who lived in the bush and needed to keep supplies of unrefrigerated meat on hand. They still have a place in emergency kits for cyclone and flood-prone areas, and in the bush tuckerbox. Though definitely not gourmet, these type of goods would be ideal for anyone trying to survive without electricity.

Good morning to you all. Looks like being warm and fine here today. Hope it lasts, I'm going to Stradbroke Island, out in the bay, on Monday, with my Art friends for some sketching and lunch - weather permitting. Not going over there if there's a storm in the offing.
My son and his 3 girls, are coming for lunch today. The mechanic we all use to service our cars lives around the corner from us, so their car gets dropped there and they land on us for the duration. I don't mind though. Always happy to spend time with them.

Midge, I'm glad Brian Cox was wonderful. My husband also won't go to anything much with me, he hates crowds, well so do I, but sometimes you have to get over that. I have managed to get him to agree to go to see the British comedian Ross Noble next April (tickets are booked). But I think he agreed because it's in a smaller local venue.
June, sorry to hear that your treatment has been so debilitating. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Suzy, your description of Isobel and her way of communicating is apparently how I did it when that age. That, or indicating to my older sister to answer for me! I just started talking one day when my grandmother was too slow in producing the small bag of lollies she always bought us. I came out with a full sentence - 'Granny, where are our lollies?' They discovered that I could speak, just hadn't bothered.
Heidi - that ear problem has been around for ages now, hasn't it? Hope these new antibiotics do the trick. I'm glad the fever is gone.
Suzy - Spam was available here but not popular.
Saltie - I had forgotten about Camp Pie. Mum would often open a tin for Saturday lunch. I remember liking it then. The thought of it turns my stomach now. Ewww!

June, I'm so sorry you're back in the hospital, but it certainly is important to stay hydrated, so I hope you'll be feeling better and back at home very soon! Sending gentle {{{HUGS}}} and I agree with everyone and hope it's like Heidi's epidurals, the stronger the reaction, the better it works!

DOrA, some of your spam-and- meals sound somewhat similar to favorites for many people in Hawaii. I can't say i have tried them. I see it on store shelves, so there are definitely people who buy and eat it.

Heidi, I hope your antibiotic has worked its magic and you will see continued improvement and less pressure!

Suzy, I hope Issy continues to do well. Maybe Daniel will be able to get some speech therapy when he's enrolled in school. Imagine you, Dana, and Alie are usually able to decipher what he is saying.

CynB, I hope you have good weather for the day of sketching and lunch! Sounds like fun!

I hope all's well with MizT. I think it has been a couple of days since she popped in. With luck, she is getting the sleep she needs. I don't remember if she had any more doctor appointments this week.
