Subject: Two Great Stories - BOTH TRUE - and worth reading!

STORY NUMBER ONE

Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago. Capone wasn't famous for anything heroic. He was notorious for enmeshing the windy city in everything from boot-legged booze and More...

2:45 Hi to all. A beautiful day here.

Thought for the Day:

Age does not matter if the matter does not age.

11/Dec/07 12:19 AM

His flight leader told him to return to the carrier. Reluctantly, he
dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet.

As he was returning to the mother ship he saw something that turned his
blood cold: a squadron of Japanese aircraft was speeding its way toward
the More...

Mymare - I thought of you when I read these stories. I thought they were pretty interesting and inspiring.

A Christmas Ditty:

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Christmas dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Christmas Everyone!

Debby, WOW, an excellent one, no doubt !! With your permission may I reproduce the poem in the first story, because I feel nothing can describe life better than that ??
11/Dec/07 12:28 AM
Good Morning Everyone!

Hey Anne - there's a name I haven't heard in ages.
11/Dec/07 12:29 AM
Jaspal - This was an e-mail I received. Sure, you may use the poem.

Hope Chopper was secured in the back of the ute before his owner drove off!!!
11/Dec/07 12:40 AM
Debby, the poem in your stories is the basis of ones journey into spirituality. In our scriptures it says the day you accept death POSITIVELY you have started the journey to discovering self and Almighty. For the risk of repetition here goes --
The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man More...
11/Dec/07 12:40 AM
Great story Debby! Glad you came back to finish it!
11/Dec/07 12:40 AM
Debby - Hate to rain on the parade, but the stories of Easy Eddie and Butch O'Hare are partly true but mostly "glurge". For details, see Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/glurge/ohare.asp
11/Dec/07 12:47 AM
2:42 - still not up so speed.
11/Dec/07 12:52 AM

11/Dec/07 1:07 AM
I want to apologize if I sounded harsh in my reply to the Easy Eddie/Butch O'Hare story. It's just that so many stories circulate on the internet that cannot be traced, so we don't know where they originated, and we can't verify them. Snopes (and other similar services) research many of these More...

I've got a YouTube clip from the '50's movie "White Christmas" on my page.

It's chilly this morning, but no where near what Stella is describing in NY. I, too, will do decorating and some baking today. Have a great day!

11/Dec/07 2:39 AM
Good Monday Maen, all!
11/Dec/07 2:41 AM
all, great story Debby, no matter what Butch actually did, he still did something heroic to recieve a Medal Of Honour. It just shows that children don't usually follow in thier parents foot steps.
11/Dec/07 2:49 AM
Good morning all! The kids are about to get here - back to class.
11/Dec/07 3:04 AM
At 6 am you could see the stars - now that the sun has risen - the fog came in and it is freezing. It isn't a heavy fog and will burn off. Last year the trees were covered with a heavy frozen fog, each day increasing the beauty of the tree's white branches.
