Head-bashed-in Buffalo Jump

For several hundred years each Fall, the Blackfoot Indians would stampede up to 300 bison over this cliff. Took care of much of their needs for a year. Northeast of Waterton NP in southern Alberta, Canada.

Hal, can't believe Rob & I have visited this place, too! Sharon, once the "warriors" rounded up all the buffalo & drove them off the cliff the poor things all ended up laying (or is it lying -help!) dead at the bottom. Then the squaws waiting there went to work carving them up to put all body parts to use - hides for shoes & clothing & tents, bones & horns for weapons & headresses, meat to eat, etc. This was much more efficient than killing one or two at a time - maybe the first example of mass production!
