Birds of Prey Competition Vernal Utah

This photo was taken at an international competition.  The birds were kept with their hoods on until it was their turn to fly, but obviously the bird turned to my presence even if he couldn't see.  The owners would let them fly almost out of sight high in the sky before they would release the pigeons for them to catch.  It was amazing to watch them dive down at high speeds to catch the pigeon.  If the pigeon was smart enough, it wasn't caught and left free to go. But the raptor was always reward
