Welcome to Dinosaurland in Utah!

For your musical entertainment, I have provided my shaky camcorder attempt to record Gracie, one of my granddaughters, singing at the local county fair talent show.  Along with this western entertainment, enjoy our barbeque buffalo, potato salad, and strawberry jello salad.  We also have chocolate float cake for dessert, so feel free to help yourselves.  Oh, and allow me to introduce my first great-grandchild - Saphera!

Greg, I enjoy reading everyone else's comments. Last winter was a little busy with helping a premature granddaughter's birth and homecoming. I also homeschool two of my grandchildren. Then we had tons of rehearsals and concerts for my granddaughter's debut at Carnegie Hall the first of June (a 10-day trip). Then we had to travel for Scottish Highland dancing competition. But I enjoy this site so much that I still do the puzzles and enjoy the photos and comments, even if I don't have the time to make any comments myself. It seems as if I learn something new or beautiful about some part of this world every day on this site, so I plan to continue being here, even if I don't have time to post or do anything with my site yet. And I have noticed your positive and insightful comments throughout this last year or so. Please keep it up; I'm sure there are more people like me who enjoy your conversations, even if we feel we don't have time to join in. Thanks so much for stopping in to visit my page. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Love the music. If you have any pictures of Brice Canyon, you may want to send those along to Angie. Brice was one of my suggestion for natural wonders.

Just got this note from sis:
motorhome didn't make it 4 miles up the grade to
Canyonlands or Arches National parks...so we took it back to the repair place and left on sunday [by car] to visit with our friends in Phoenix...

I let Angie know that she could find lots of pics by googling (or Yahooing): 'Bryce Canyon' photo

I am from Marshalltown, just down the road from you. My husband is from Ames. His parents are still in Ames, my sister in law is in Newton, and brother in law moved from Johnston to Urbandale. My husband's roommate in college is in Central City. Small world isn't it?

Hi again Wilodene. I love Minnesota! As you know central Iowa is pretty flat so not much as far as beautiful scenery. When I was first married we lived in Fairmont MN, the Southwest corner of the state and it was about like Iowa. We moved to Winona 14 years ago and I wouldn't leave for anything (well, maybe just for Jan. Feb. & March) The bluffs and the Mississippi lend to a picture perfect place to live. We have a great group of friends and feel very blessed to have found our little spot in God's country.

How do you find Utah compared to Iowa?

Gday Wilodene from wintery Australia. Thank you for the guided tour around your part of the world. There are no words to do it justice so I will just say spectacularly breathtaking. Yes, that will do fine.
I have brought some gifts for you. A bottle of my father's homemade tomato chutney, a plate of nibblies and an invitation to my page to meet my family.

Hello Wilodene, thanks for visiting and especially for the beautiful flower. Ballston Spa is in New York State, Saratoga County. We are about mid way between NYC and Canada, about thirty minutes north of Albany. Saratoga is horse country though it is also the fastest growning county in NY the last I was aware so hopefully we will be careful not to build on all of our open spaces.

My traveles have mainly consisted of the northeastern states but hope to explore out west some time soon. Your pictures make me even more certain of that.

Stop by and visit any time, visitors are always welcome. Take care.

Hi Wilodene
What a lovely picture of you two - it is so nice to know the face of the person you are writing to!
In Australia we had a similar mine tragedy where some amazing rescuers managed to find 2 men and get them out after 2 weeks. Unfortunately one man was not so lucky. The two who were saved were trapped in a tiny cage where they could not stand and were touching each other for the entire time. I still admire the strength of them to believe that their rescuers would get them out and that they did not go insane. I guess that is why those other miners died - you always want to believe someone will come for you if you are trapped.
The men and their families are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope that next time we chat there will be happier news.

to you, Wilodene. I hope it will be a great one.

You and your husband are a "fine" looking couple. I commend you on your home-schooling and feel that your grandchildren are very fortunate. I homeschooled 4 of my 5 children through their final years of school. I thoroughly enjoyed it and feel that it definitely paid off!

to the great land of Sudoku. It is great to have you here.

Thank you for the goodies. They were great!

Wilodene, have a great day.
I'm a home schooler, also. Both my boys and now my daughter. I started because we moved where there is no school bus but now I just prefer it. Is there a reason you homeschool? There are lots of home schoolers in this area and we have a group that coordinates activities for the kids on a weekly basis. They do park days, skating, bowling and we always have our "Not Going Back to School" beach party on the first day of school. They have also arranged "field trips" of local businesses. It's a great way to get know others and trade info on schooling and such.

Hi Wilodene - Thanks for your visit. I really enjoyed hearing about your family. You are a very busy lady! I am curious....what cirriculum do you use for your homeschooling?

I am not far from Howell. About a half an hour. I enjoy going to the Howell Wal-Mart. Although I get over there maybe twice a year! There is another store called Elder-Berrmans (SP)that I like to go to also. I live about 20 miles east of there off of M59. If you haven't been to Howell in the last 5 years, you probably wouldn't recognize it. It has grown so much it is unbelievable.
