Sudokuaholics Anonymous 2

Welcome everyone to our new SA page.  We had 9037 posts on the last one, WOOHOO.  Hopefully this one will not have the problems that we were all noticing with the last.

UPDATE: After 10,000 comments on this thread, it is slowing down too!

Time to begin a new thread, And here is the link.

Cheers,
Gath

Lets see, lost comments were something like, not all alcohol treats me equally. Champagne is the worse, a couple sips and OUCH. Vodka and Canadian probably the least, can have a drink or 2 usually, but not always, before headache. Now Scotch is what I cannot get past my lips, but was my mom's choice. Always think of her when someone mentions the Glenli. . . whatever.

YES, it is , and it seems to happen a lot like that! Very slow the last post or 2 on a page. Espically if more than one try to post at one time. Like the computer throws up it's little hands and says, WHERE AM I GOING TO PUT ALL THESE, no more room, no more room . . . .

I think wine is second worse. And I do not care for a dry wine, but i do like a fruity slightly sweet one. I had a friend once that bought me very expensive wines trying to find one I liked, and really got his feelings hurt I did not appreciate it. He was sort of a connoisseur of wine and fine foods.

Gath says we should not have problems with the size of the site, since he changed hhis provider.

I am not sure why we on SA seem to have more problems than others do.

But SA1 was having a lot of problems, which is why we created a new page. I think it's been a lot better since - we are yet to see if we experience the same problems with this one.

I would hate to have a problem with wine - I enjoy it soo much

Australia has a lot of wine country doesn't it? I remember a pen pal telling me about going visiting wine country but forget where it is. I also saw a very good documentary about a train across Australia, lovely show, and they visited wine country also.

On Friday I was totally kicked out, couldn't get back in, & when I did get back in I had to log back on (plus I had to log back on when I opened the site on this computer today). I later realised that it was Gath's new innovations

Did you lose me? I'm still here!!
Yes, Australia is big on making (& drinking wine). We have wine growing regions all over the country. There are good ones in WA, SA, Vic, NSW, & Tas. They are all abbreviations for our states. If you don't know what they are, I will explain

OH about logging back in . . I was all confused when I had to log in and things did not LOOK right. I did not have my page, and i had a new look on the screen, what with advertisements and no smilies!! I thought I had been put in the naughty room for sure.

I had accidently signed back into the FIRST non supporting member page. When I signed up for supporting membership, I managed to create a NEW page, since I was told I could not use MizTricia . . So i used MizTricia1. My old page is still there and I got into that one, forgot to sign in with the 1 on my name :>)

MizT, not raining here. Our little pocket hasn't had anything other than a piddle for about 2 weeks.

Jenni, our local grocery used to carry a lot of Australian wines. They've since closed. I think I still have a few.

Just back to our previous conversation, briefly, wine making is a HUGE industry here, & we really pride ourselves on our wine. We make a lot of wine for our population & it IS good. I know you have good wine in California, but is it a big industry elsewhere?

ACT = Australian Capital Territory. It is a very small spot within NSW that contains Canberra. We are governed separately, & a totally separate entity. Australia has 6 states & 2 territories.

The Shadow was a crime fighter on a radio program from the 1940's I think. A couple of movies were made based on the character. The tag line was 'Only The Shadow knows.'

Ahhhh, ACT is a bit like our Washington, DC . . . that is District of Columbia, a seperate entity where our capitol is located. Not in any state. It has long ago outgrown it's boundries, and spills into the neighboring states.

We actually have a winnery local, but they are not huge, the main industry seems to be CA. They have the mediteranian climate for the grapes. the areas where they get winter freezes are making ICE WINE, and i read it is potent stuff and pricey. they take the frozen grapes and somehow make a much stronger brew, I think they first did that when an very early freeze got the entire grape crop and someone said, well, why not give frozen grapes a try.

BECKY, it looks like we may get an all day rain, now that would help with the drought some and get grass back to green for the ranchers and fill thier catch onds and wet weather streams. Might be too late for many crops though.

The movies were made years ago. I've caught a couple of TMC (Turner Movie Channel). I'll check what they're titles are. You might be able to rent them.

MizT, I think you just hit the nail on the head - USA is probably too cold to make wine, except for a few areas. We have a much better climate here in Oz.
I shall send you some of our rain. We have suffered for so long now with the drought, but we are having a really wet winter that it looks like it could be the end of the drought. Fingers crossed
