good going. One thing I've noticed, though, may help in the future. Naturally, I'm not going to tell you. And maybe I haven't noticed anything and I'm just teasing.

yes, I waited until I thought you had posted the last on the previous page, but your sense of timing was better than mine.
''air,'' right...I didn't understand the rules of the game. I thought the point was to create one new word.

Nothing particularly good or bad, just watching at the moment, hoping to make a significant move at the right time...famous last words, aren't they?

Stella, consider the possibility that I only said that to get a rise. When does racing season start at Saratoga? I've only been there in August.

Yeah, the market is tricky! Many years ago we were going to either buy a house or invest in Microsoft. Needless to say we bought the house. We would be rich if we had gone the other way but it wasn't meant to be.

The racing season starts July 25th and goes through the first weekend of September. It's a very short season.

We only go on Sundays for the giveaways. The kids like to look at the horses and pick a couple. We usually leave by the 3rd race or so.

Some of the brightest people on earth have gone broke in the stock market. It's as much a profound understanding of human nature as a skill at analysis. All those Wharton whiz kids at Long Term Capital Management had it all figured out...until there was a coup in Thailand which dragged down the Russian ruble and they lost $60 Billion. Your tax dollars had to bail them out. There's a new book out called ''Useless Arithmetic: why environmentalists can't predict the future,'' based on the same truth...that mathematics is a dangerous but seductive art.

We did invest in MCI at one point because my sister worked for them and the company was really moving...until Worldcom destroyed it. Good thing we didn't have alot invested, but enough that it hurt.

yes, and it's no longer ''money'' at that point, at least in the way that you and I think of it---something which allows us to purchase something, or have security. It's just a game, a type of competition within a very small group.

Yep, topper, I think you are right, it is about power and Points in the power game after a certain point, and I am not sure just where that point lies.

Their little game ruined alot of people! They were probably not ruined in the process, or at least should have protected themselves considering the salary they were paying themselves.

Scrushy got hurt financially, thankfully. They did take his money in the dirst case, and his cars and other properties.
I just read, his grown son was arrested on drug charges in the home they had not confinscated, NOW family could loose that house too.Seems he made some people angry, and they are looking at EVERYTHING he and his family is doing.

I firmly believe that those people should be charged with some type of manslaughter. When you see and hear and read about retirees who lose everything and suffer heart attacks, take a job as WalMart greeters and start drinking and crash their cars, shoot their wives because the strain has gotten to them and they might as well be flat-out nuts... the people who did that to them killed them.

Stella, what recipe? I just do it hehehe. I have waterless cookware, so heat the pan really hot, put in the chops, brown on one side, turn, reduce heat and add however much apples, cabbage and onion you want. when the chops are done so are the veggies.

I am sure you could bake it Stella, if you first brown the chops in a hot pan and a tiny bit of oil sprayed on the chops.

Hi MizT, my first husband liked Pork chops with apple and onion. I have never tried it with cabbage.
Unfortunately Husband and son don't like apple onion and pork so doubt we will ever try it with cabbage
