Her punishment has always been that she is not allowed to read. She would not come up for air if not forced to do so. D#1 was the same.

Finally got a condo at Smuggs. Of course it is more than I wanted to pay or could afford, but my sister had promised our mom and she was already packing!

it is a great thing, to get kids that excited about reading. It's a lot more difficult to do now than it was 20 years ago.

We were at Walmart last night and there was one family that bought a book for each of them, 4, and bought the collector's edition as well, which was pricey.

I hope you're sending half the bill to your sister.

My neighbors were always aghast that they were not allowed to read as punishment because they couldn't get their kids to read. But it has paid off for mine. They are all top students.

I wish I could send her half the bill but we always stay with her there so we kind of impose. But we also bring all the food and supplies and hubby does all the cooking. I wonder what she'll do now when we're with my mom!

Because they read so much, they are also great writers. D#2 writes stories online and D#1 wrote an epic poem for her honors course that her Professor said was the best thing he has read and wouldn't give it a grade because he said it was too good to be graded.

All of the good intentions of getting things done have gone for naught.

We did pick up the summer reading books at Barnes & Noble while we were there, so at least that was accomplished.

Well, it looks like I am here by myself, so I shall head to bed. It is after 11pm and I wake up early no matter what. I must remember to turn the alarm off since hubby is in NC. I don't need to get up at 6am on a Sunday. Have a good night all and catch you on the flip side.
