HI STELLA, yes, I am still up for a bit longer tonight. I must remember to go see your son's prom. Rola showed me a photo of her boys, and herself, made Mother's day. Very nice to have the children home for Mother's day, Stella, did not happen here, but all 3 girls phoned me.

Rola, do you have to spray your lemon? I planted one in Jan & when I went to pick the 2 fruit it had last week I realised that it was covered in those little white flies. Sprayed it & now they're gone. My last one died (it was only a couple of years old) so keeping fingers crossed for this one. Mine is in the ground.

State Universities in some states (like Georgia) let their own residents to go for free. The tuition at many universities has gotten so expensive it is very difficult to afford ($45,000)and the government doesn't really give out much of a loan ($2,500). Not like the gov't did when I went to college which almost covered the entire tuition.

Just before I go (boy I'm hopeless) I'll answer Stella's question. We have much colder weather here than in Perth, I think, but it snows only about once every 10 years, and doesn't stay on the ground. Now, I'm off

You're close, Jenni, SC is South Carolina. The 5 states I listed were: New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina then South Carolina. Below us is Georgia, then Florida, then a lot of water.
Yes, Alabama is 2 states over and my 'sister' lives there.
MisTricia; had the two major valves (mitral and aortic) replaced in open heart surgery last June.
Quite unexpected. No food restrictions, except low salt and only 1/2 gallon of fluids total.

Rola, it was so fast. I was found to have a murmur in March. I had an echocardiogram that was virtually normal, but beause my brother had died suddenly and because of how he died, the doctors did a Persantine stress test. (FYI: meds are injected IV to make the heart act as though you've been exercising, though you don't walk on treadmill). That was in April; the results were pretty bad. In May I saw the cardiovascular surgeon and my surgery was scheduled for 2 weeks later. It got bumped, and my surgery date was June 7. They thought they would replace the mitral valve and repair the aortic valve, but the aortic valve was beyone repair. So, a 3 hour surgery became a 5-6 hr surgery. 2 days later I had what appeared to be a seizure or a stroke and almost died (my husband swears they told him I had been dead). Now I'm doing okay.
Good luck on Thursday; please let me know what they say. I will be waiting to hear.
BTW: meant to mention that Cathy's twin sister, Corrine, is in town for a few days and for their birthday. It's fun to see them giggling and such
(and there's a story for another time).

Cyndi, I have what is called a Bicusspid Aortic Stenosis. The murmer was found, ooh 15 years ago, it is a mild condition, and also slight thickening of the blood vessel walls. Had the Echocardiogram done a couple of weeks ago. I see the Cardiologist every 5 years. Will let you know after my visit the outcome of the lastest tests..
Take it easy, and look after yourself, and let that lovely boy of yours do all the cooking!!
Happy Birthday to Corrine

I had the most beautiful sunset today. It was raining a bit so it started with a gorgeous double rainbow which stayed while the clouds turned a beautiful dark orange/almost red. Couldn't have asked for a nicer way to end the day.
