I suggested the TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION motto that is on the DC license plates, so when the license plates were first issued, I got
ones that said MY IDEA since it was my idea. I realize the explanation is hard to see, since it showed up above, not under, the larger photo of the motto.

Oh, to complete the explanation:
It represents our colonial status, paying taxes but not being represented in Congress except by a non-voting delegate, rather than a real congressman and senators.
