Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) Soars Over My Home

The Turkey Vulture is a migratory bird, and winter-season resident in South Florida. It is told from the Black Vulture by its bright red head. Also, the white feathering extends from the wingtip, along the rear edge of the wing, all the way to the body, whereas the Black Vulture only has white feathers on its wingtips. Feb 13, 2009

That's a massive wing span for such a small head!!! I bet that fellow could soar for hours on end and not feel the strain!
