This is a terrifying picture, Colo Jim. It's not just the danger to homes and property, but the devastation it causes to wildlife and the environment.

I've had bush fires pretty close to the house here in Sydney & the river house, so I can understand how you must be feeling!!!

Colo Jim my heart goes out to all in the path and those left quivering in its wake. It doesn't seem so long ago that we had the Kinglake fires here and they nibbled at Melbournes outskirts. We were shrouded in smoke 5kms from the CBD [city centre]..couldn't see the end of our street.. and Melbournes suburban sprawl is enormous. Don't ever want to see the like again.
