MizTricia, last night I missed you by 2 minutes - and it happened again today. I am going to take a break for brunch - and whatever else takes some of my time today - and hope to be back later. I hope you're having a great day!

Good afternoon! It's still raining here. Don't know if one of the tryouts will be canceled because of all the rain. The fields are probably waterlogged. It is getting brighter out so this may be a sign it is ending. I was kind of hoping the outdoor one would be canceled, but probably not. (can't go to both, so will have to pick one)

Hi, Stella! Is he trying out for 2 different teams - or is it 2 different children trying out?

Good luck, 'Max!' If he 'makes' both teams, would he be able to play on both, or need to choose? (By the way, I'm back & forth between puzzles & here, so not completely abandoning you just yet.)

He will have to pick one. One is closer and less expensive. However, the other team has several kids trying out that he has played with before, but it is about $500 more.

We've never had a dog, or any pet. I'm allergic and some of the kids are allergic. We almost had one once that was rescued from a dumpster, but we gave it to my sister and they had him for a long time (maybe 17 years) until he died.

Oh what a shame you are allergic to pets I would hate that. Our place is sometimes a bit like a zoo. At present we have 2 Rabbits (used to have 4) a Jenday conure (small parrot) gold fish in an outside pond, and 4 tanks of tropical fish. We have had hamsters too.

Brenda, that's exciting that you'll be getting a puppy! I'm not sure what the difference is in the various cocker spaniels. Maybe I'll google it. . .BRB

We're also so busy with the kids' activities, that it would be hard for a pet I would think. We're always running here and there. I teased the kids and told them once they are out of the house, then we will get a pet. They were not happy with that.

You have to have time for pets. My kids (apart from one) are all grown up, though they still live at home, and can get themselves to any activities they want to go to. None of them have been very sport.

The English Cocker is merry and affectionate, of equable disposition, neither sluggish nor hyperactive, a willing worker and a faithful and engaging companion.

Apparently they are small to medium in size and originally hunting dogs if I skipped through carefully enough.

I wasn't to sure we were going replace Lady, but we looked after a friends 10 month old cocker spaniel over the weekend and realised just how much we missed having a dog around

The cocker spaniel is just the right size for us. Not too small but not too big. We often go away in a smallish caravan (trailer) so don't want anything too big. One of our neighbours has three Newfoundlands which a lovely dogs but just too big.

Brenda, our daughter (who already has a Samoyed) is planning to get a Newfoundland this late this summer. We were with her family when they visited a breeder and saw about 20-25 Newfies. (The breeder had a small farm, so had room.)
