Never tried any other cream soup, I don't see why cream of chicken wouldn't work.
During WWII, they used dried beef to make what my dad called sh*t on a shingle.

It's processed beef that's been sliced thin and a touch salty. It's shaped like a square and sold in small packages at the store.

I've made it with only bacon before. You only need it to season the soup.

I suppose we could use silverside (cold, slided corned beef) Rola, from the deli section of the supermarket.

My mom used to make dried beef gravy occasionally and it would make my dad 'angry.' Said he got enough of it in the army.

Yes Becky, they came to Aus not too long ago. Don't know about Peth but I think the first one that opened up in Melbourne started a couple of years ago.

One finally came here. I go there to get a few things. Since I clip coupons, can usually get the same items cheaper at a regular store.

I haven't used them much, not on my usual shopping route. Plus its hard to go with unknown brands but it is supposed to be a lot cheaper. Might have a look next week for the staples, you know, pasta etc. Hubby often notices that they have veeery cheap pooter speshes and TVs and odd things like that. Do you use them Becky?

Coupons are kind of a rip off. To make up for the coupons, a lot of stores raise their prices on other things. A friend who used to work at a grocery, called me a 'cherry picker.' Watch sales then take coupons for the stuff on sale.
We don't have a Woolworth around here anymore. They closed the last store about 5-10 years ago.

Generally, Gail, very, very low prices on electronic items indicates that they have been refurbished. That usually is not a good deal.

Here's the other recipe:
GOLDEN BAKED CHICKEN
2 lb. chicken breasts
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 10 1/2 oz. can cream of chicken, celery or mushroom soup
1/2 can of milk
Put chicken in baking dish in a single layer. Put a couple of small pats of butter on each breast. Bake at 400 F for 20 min. Turn chicken over and bake 20 more min. Mix soup and milk. Turn chicken over again and pour soup over chicken. Do it slowly because it may splatter. Bake 20 min. more.
I usually serve it over plain noodles or spaghetti.
